Hello Clive and Theo,

Please would it be possible to add compressed Muescore files (.mscz) as permitted attachments to forum posts? At the moment only uncompressed Musescore files (.mscx) are allowed.

Compressed files are the default when saving in Musescore; you have to convert them separately to uncompressed if needed, which is a pain.

Also, the resultant file sizes are significant: on a typical A4 size page of single line music, the compressed .mscz file is typically one third the size of the uncompressed .mscx version. On large scores the difference is huge: I have a 28-page score for clarinet quartet. The compressed version is 650 KB, the uncompressed version is 5.8 MB.

Many thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

I've added mscz to the allowed file types.   Please do a test and let me know here if it's not working.

Here's a test: Market Rasen Feast Quickstep

Edit:
Yes, it appears to work - thanks Theo!

I set it to whatever is most useful at the time and for whatever purpose. Usually the Musescore default setting is OK.
I might make it smaller (narrower) if I want to squeeze a second tune on to the same page. I might make it wider if I'm using printed copies for teaching e.g. in workshops. Then there is more space for students to make notes between the staves (e.g. alternative chords, fingerings, etc.)
