Melodeon building with Emmanuel Pariselle in France Sept 30th Oct 9th 2020
Theo:
Emmanuel Pariselle is running a melodeon building course later this year from September 30th to October 9th at Institut Technologique Européen des Métiers de la Musique in Le Mans, France.
The participants will build Emmanuel's design with 10/9/6 button on the right and 14 basses. You can choose your tonality DG, GC, AD, BbEb or other tuning and either MM or LM. There is also some choice of treble grill design, and of decorative inlay. Full details in the attached document from the Institute.
Fred:
I neither have the money nor the time to participate but I'm still interested:
What kind of wood will the boxes be made of this time around?
Theo:
I don’t know for sure Fred, but I expect it will be American black walnut.

We are adrift in the same boat, Fred, but I am intrigued by that note that there are 14 basses, but chords are thirdless. Is that standard, I wonder?
Squeaky Pete:
That is standard Greg.
The whole setup is designed to be as flexible as possible and the two extra buttons at the knee end provide the accidentals so a full octave of semitones is possible.
My box is unusual in that it has been (retro)fitted with thirds by Emmanuel and has a third stop.
