Does anyone else make Vienna Style one rows
« on: February 16, 2020, 09:45:44 PM »

Enjoying trying to get to grips with one row playing, and have two questions:
Does anyone else make one-rows without the growl box thing? I don't really want basses at all at the moment, but what I do want to have is a box shaped left hand, not a growl box, and was curious if the 1040 shape is made by others?
Second question is, how good (I know that's a loaded comment) can a 1040 be in terms of reed response etc. (not thinking about mechanics, just reeds)?
I've picked up a C 1040 dirt cheap, knowing that it needs a tweak, but it looks like it could be quite sweet. Bellows are tight, despite worrying splits looking likely to develop near bellows gaskets, I've switched some springs round and restricted the treble movement, but reed response is uneven and want to know whether it can be set up to the level of my current boxes somehow.
Only interested in one or two voices as well.

I’ve got one, they sound lovely in original tuning.

And these are good also , Busilacchio 1 rows in this thread , see PGroff’s post
