Ha :D

Very creative, you have a lot of theatrical and cinematic ability. Creative use of all your props, just great.

That was incredible - how on earth did you match the music with the images like that?  The video takes your interest away so much that you forget that the music itself is so well-played.  Really brilliant!

Another two beginner videos.
1. pokerwork G/C (the only thing I'll ever have in common with Tony Hall is clackerty buttons!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcS61LBrtpw
2. Strasser Steierische ADG
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHNJJ_7HeB8

Had to keep them very short as I don't have broadband.

Eventually, I have worked out how to use a webcam sufficiently to post a video, despite the webcam arriving without any instructions and not having worked out what half the buttons do or mean. The video is out of focus and I have discovered that I have a severe case of camera-shyness, which makes me tense up the moment I switch the thing on - quite surprising, since I am used to lecturing to a hall full of students without any nervousnes whatsoever.

Anywhere, for what little it is worth, here is my effort:

Glad to know you got the webcam sorted in the end.

Nice one Bob. Excellent video - and I love those little grace notes that you play, must have a go at that. I too am used to speaking to large groups of people, first when I taught English at Uni and now in my current role - but I too get the 'yips' in front of the camera. Am doing a short 'live' broadcast on BBC Radio Sheffield on Sunday morning and will be a complete wreck until it's over. Your nerves didn't show up at all in your video though.

Another effort - despite all the practice it feels less fluid this time, but that's probably because I'm trying to think more about what I'm doing with my left hand:

Good stuff Johnjo - was that box that Theo fettled for you? If so I've very pleasant memories of playing that down at Middle earth Session at Whitby! Much easier to play than my little old primo which is such a workout machine! We must get togther again sometime and have a blast.

Hi Chris.  Matching the audio and video was done in my video editing software.  I use Premiere Elements, but I think most such programs offer similar functionality - you load the clips into it, then drag them into place, lining everything up as required.  Once in place, it's also useful to 'keyframe' volume levels, so that fading and balance can be sorted out.  Both are simple enough to do, but offer a lots of flexibility and scope plenty of scope for 'bodging it'.  I suppose the other thing that helps is a bit of planning.  For the new video, I did a little 'storyboarding' for the first time, which definately helped me focus on what I needed to be doing.

Anyhow, glad you enjoyed it.   (:)

Yes Al - the very same. I love the action on it now.

I did toy, momentarily, with the idea of driving over to Chesterfield for your Sunday session, but it's a long way (130 mile round trip, I think), and my favourite tom-boy has first claim on my time that day for her birthday party, so I'll be with you in spirit.

Phew, made it just in time, with the technology!

Can anyone help me get the aspect ratio right?  I just can't see how to get my daughter's Samsung recorder to record a clip in a form that will transfer the mp4 to Windows Movie Maker in Vista without squashing it, nor can I find a way of correcting it by editing.

Dunno mate, same thing happened to me in this video. Odd thing was that the aspect ratio of a video I'd uploaded a while before changed too after submitting the new one! Both were filmed on the same Sony Handicam. Bizarre.  ???

It's become extremely slow to load too. Technology, blah!

Here's my Final Take - still not happy with the rhythm though. But at least I'm breaking out a little bit from the oompah oompah. :||:

I'm just uploading a second version I recorded about 2 weeks ago. Hope it's done by midnight!

Done with 9 mins to spare! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7uErQAvbUI Apologies for the occasional bum notes from the bass end; I keep forgetting it has an F on the push where the C should be when I try to play the C/D chord (or whatever the C/F equivalent is; it's too late for transposition!)

Great new submissions everyone! Now that we're into November (by 12 mins) I'm unstickying this topic and opening up the next TOTM L'Inconnu de Limoise to replace it.

But please keep posting new versions of Speed the Plough here - there's no reason why we can't upload new versions even though we're not in October any more!

Cheers,

Clive

Superb rhythm and basses - you make it seem simple to play like that!
