Can't just sit here without playing, can't play without sharing.

Nice, I can just imagine the low lights and the glitter ball as the couples swing round the dance floor!

Thanks, Theo.  We used not to have to imagine it.  The mirror ball we used for square and swing dancing.  For Scandi-dancing we used tea lights all around the hall.

They are really sweet, and beautifully played.

You've been busy, Dick. I particularly like the Soren Vals. Do you have the dots?

I do, but no way to post them at this time.  My go-to resizing service has not been working for a while so the pic files will be too large to attach here.

The tune as posted is in dm for the first part and am for the second, played on my usual
G/C box, BUT...

several months ago the f# reed of the D chord triad went severely flat so I taped
it out.  The resulting "no third" D suits my preference for playing a lot of tunes
In modes requiring both the f and f# in the melody side.  I no longer have to fudge
by using the F triad for a dm chord.

Johnny's Waltz

https://youtu.be/NRVRELALhU8

Typical German-American tune.  Ensemble would be led by a concertina player (Chemnitzer)
with drums, bass horn (tuba or sousaphone) with trumpet/clarinet/sax and such.

If you look closer you'll notice that's not what I play in the video.  The notes
are in the same order (albeit pitched a step higher), but the Music is different.
Here it is from the dots you posted:

Compare/contrast.  Have fun.

Yes,  I see what you mean. Where did you get that idea from, and is one version more authentic than the other? I've often thought that 6/8 v 2 bars of 3 was a grey area.

When you play for dancing for 50 years or so you pick up a few things.
My first video was just a plain waltz, the second an "eighth-note" waltz.
Both are legit...but NOT interchangeable in dancing.  The trick to playing for dance is
to have a "2-way street", making the dancers a part of the band and the band
an equal partner with those out on the floor.

The "meter-morphing" is another subject, one which surfaces often in
discussions here.

This is a great little theme no matter which way you choose.  Glad you find it interesting.
I woke up with it in my head yesterday morning and dug out the CD to check out my memory.
