Here's one of my absolute favourite tunes to play - a right bugger to learn but once you start it can just go roooound and roooound...

Vals I Lekstugan (Waltz in the Playhouse) by Ebbe Jularbo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGOhcfsuFRQ

Congratulations on mastering this tune! It's as hard as it gets for us mortal, I'd say. Awesome playing from your side, chapeau!

For now I've put it into cold storage as I'm currently practicing other stuff (Dvajspetorka all day, every day). However, I will definitely come back to Vals I Lekstugan because it's an absolutely gorgeous melody. I always imagine an old carousel spinning round and round while listening to it.

That is absolutely brilliant! Well played indeed!  (:)

(I think I will abandon the melodeon and take up the kazoo instead)

Great theme! I've enjoyed the entries so far.

There's one tune my family always requests me to play when I am around, and I happily oblige. It's become one of my favorites: https://youtu.be/4J8fup9GYNM

I hope you enjoy it. Here's the dots:

Saul, also great tune and of course superb playing (didn't Gena also play this recently?).

Yes, I learnt it for the 100 days of practice thread that I guess I stopped making videos for. I recorded a few more days, but, idk I guess I just don't feel like editing them any more.

It is a tough tune, the melody just keeps going and going... which is both a good thing and a bad thing. But as Saul said in his youtube description: "that hasn't stopped some of us from using almost every button on the keyboard!" - and he has a 2.5 row and it still uses almost the whole lot of them. With the extra accidentals, he has the "luxury" of playing the 1st & 2nd half of the C music in the correct relative octaves as one another, and it's great fun watching him run up the keyboard there.

If you're on the fence about learning it, or some other almost scary tune, idk, take a punt and learn a bit of it a time. It's usually more possible than you'd think. I'm not sure it's possible to feel bad after playing it.

Thanks for sharing your performance, Saul!

I've already posted many of my favourite tunes on YouTube. If I have a current favourite it's probably A Tankard of Ale, which I've now posted twice (once solo, once in duo)...
But this one was definitely ripe for posting, and on the top of my current list: The Road To Poynton by English concertina player Rob Harbron.

I like this a lot. As the right hand develops it really takes off. One of my sticking points is lack of developing the tune.

Here's another one, a waltz I've played for a *long* time, but never recorded on video.

I call this "Carousel"; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aavoG1xFLLY

I say "call", because I don't know what the original name of it was, but it was used on a really old TV program called "Camera" about the history of photography which aired in the 70's/80's. It's on the first Vivant CD as Carousel. What is interesting is that as soon as I uploaded it, and *before* I named the video, youtube tagged a copyright claim on it by EMI, against a track called "Carousel". How on earth did youtube name it, bearing in mind it wasn't named this on the TV show, unless the copyright is against my CD recording? And why does EMI apparently own the copyright on my CD? I've disputed it of course, but I've never seen anything quite like this before. I do believe I have a copyright claim against myself!

Anyway, it's a lovely waltz, and absolutely one of my favourites. Probably the first complex-ish tune I learned. Played on a Hohner Club I in C/F.

Cheers,

Clive

I very much enjoyed the different tunes, especially the Brev från Lillan.  (:) (In fact I forgot that I had a pot with beans on the cooker until it was too late.  :-[ )

I proposed this tune for TotM some time ago, but never recorded it. Maybe it wanted to wait until this month's ThotM.  8)

Played on a recently acquired east-german Corso-copy.

Current favourite, after struggling with it for a few weeks.
It's now the first tune I go to when I unclip the bellows, next week it'll be something different I expect.
https://youtu.be/gN5NU-MZR9c
This was transcribed from a terrible YouTube video by Mel Stevens and try as we might, we can't find a better version anywhere to work from.
Anyway it's a Musette Valse by the wonderful Michel Esbelin and Tiennent Simonnin.

If you click on the bottom of the description, you'll find all the tunes listed. I think you're looking at Londonderry Air, more commonly known as Danny Boy?
Thanks for the encouragement, and Graham as well.
