Melodeon life
« on: April 07, 2020, 11:49:25 AM »

Over the years I have bought, I have sold...and I’ve traded them. I have fettled, re-fettled and then restored them back to how they were.
I’ve stripped them, re-assembled, modified and I have weighed them.
I have photographed them, recorded sound tests, tested spring tension and I have tested pallet seals on them.
I have loved some, disliked some...and in total frustration..I have burned some.
I am addicted to them.
I am not very good at playing them.
I do know them.

Reminds me...

How can you tell a real Stradivarius from a copy?

Th real one burns with a bright BLUE flame.

I should say that this particular aspect of my relationship with melodeons/accordions took place a while ago during beer-crazed days. ( I would not do it now of course.)
I remember an obscure multi-coupler accordion that made a sweeter sound whilst burning than when it was being played. Theo is right, celluloid for a cheery flame of significance..and a well-cleaned flue advisable.   ;D

Celluloid ones burn best!

Wear a mask....if you can find one!
Toilet paper recommended as kindling....if you can find any!

Maybe not a good idea in the present circumstances  >:(
