FR18 basses
« on: April 09, 2020, 09:03:28 AM »

Hello,

Does anyone have a print-out which matches bass button pitches with their two-digit programme numbers? I have the Tablature Maker to set the pitch CLASS of bass buttons but I want to change the octave of some to permit runs. Or, is there a simple sum to add or subtract from the existing rich text numbers in notepad to move the pitch by ‘x’ semitones?

Thanks,

Doug Watt

Are you talking about integer notation or midi note events? In integer notation (of which I know very little) I guess you just add 12 to go up an octave or subtract to go the other way. I would guess this only applies to equal temperament. Or am I being simple and totally misunderstanding what you are asking............ ;D

In the layout XML file,
Code: [Select]
        <BassKeyboard>
            <BassRow1>
                <BassButton chord="true" closing="1" closing_ext="maj" opening="8" opening_ext="maj"/>
                <BassButton chord="false" closing="1" closing_ext="maj" opening="8" opening_ext="maj"/>

Seemingly, 0 is 'off', 1 is C, 2 is C# etc, 8 is G. They're semitone numbers from 1 upwards starting at some octave of C. 25 is C4, so, presumably 1 is C2. And thus presumably this is correct:

Disclaimer: I do not own an FR18 and have never played one so I have no idea what does/doesn't work.

Code: [Select]
# Note Octave

1 C 2
2 C#/Db 2
3 D 2
4 D#/Eb 2
5 E 2
6 F 2

Hello Contributors,

For some inexplicable reason I did not get notified of replies and I have only just seen your kind responses. You must think me very rude for ignoring them.

I understand the XML chart and I had ‘got there’ myself. Sadly, the pitch range that I want in the basses would necessitate negative numbers and I need a bit more time to investigate this as I am only now returning to the matter after being busy on other musical projects.

Thanks again (belatedly)

Regards,
