Fettlers busy?
« on: May 12, 2020, 08:52:21 AM »

I wonder if, in these unusual times, melodeon fettlers are unusually busy, or distracted? I sent out requests to 3 repairers for an indication of costs to revalve, rewax and tune a Hohner, and none of them replied - not even to acknowledge the enquiry?

In my case yes, though that's just as normal.  I've had a few requests to put jobs on hold, but balanced out by a few getting work done while things are quiet.

It struck me as a good time to get work done. MikeR has been very helpful and is now on his second job for me. I'm eying up a third.

Very busy. Sold 6 boxes in 12 days recently. Repair jobs flooding in. Two being dropped off by locals today. I'm offering curbside service! Seems like folk's hobbies are at the forefront lately.

Had an interesting project recently to replace one chord with bass notes for a ITM player wanting an alternative configuration.

I understand why the owner has asked for this modification and admire your engineering skills, but I couldn't live with it!
F sharp/B bass and chords or F/C...make your choice.  ;) (:)  Each to their own.

I'm still busy making one-row boxes and filling gig time by attacking the many projects on the high and dusty shelf.

Pleased to hear this. My self employed kids are … struggling.

I report excess Xrays from Britain’s NHS. Thought I’d be busy … but flow has dried up by 90%, and their option to use me in Nightingale hospitals never happened (which is good) 🙂 Won’t starve as I’m now pensioner

So idling about. My session died on 13 March. Strange times. Nothing is as expected  :|glug

Of course, the thing that takes up most of my time is home-educating my grandson (he lives with me).

My two grandkids' home-education also takes most of my time now with this lockdown, and it isn't an easy job ... they live next door, although on the same plot ... so they are in and out all day long ... both parents working full time ...

NO grandchildren here 😕 though my three share 100 years between them!

Maybe a bit of idleness’ll help 😉 … but I digress  :|glug

That is pretty much a full-time job in itself  Hats off to you sir.
