A great discovery the other week was finding that my wife's latest violin exam piece -First movement from Vivaldi Concerto in G Opus 3 No. 3 RV310 could have been written for D/G melodeon.
It first virtually perfectly on my Castagnari Dony 2.5 - I've just had to transpose two short phrases to accommodate my single F natural. Not only that, it is an excellent exercise in cross rowing and improving finger dexterity, fitting with interesting chordal variations. My sight reading is also improving considerably !
Whilst I love classical music, I've never played an orchestral instrument and I think it's definitely too late for me to try. I see I've got a copy of 'Melodeon Classics' on the shelf - but any other recommendations for my next attempt ? I know there are some excellent classical players in the Forum.
(Much as I like the Vivaldi - I'm not certain whether it'll go down well at the local session whenever that restarts !
