Here are a few more tunes played in Wakefield, Quebec as part of a virtual Canada Day celebration. The first tune is something of a mishmash of a two Irish tunes (or just a truncated portion of one), hence the unusual title.

The band has a nice musical balance and a good feel for the tunes. Looks like it was a nice day for you happy Canadians.

BTW I spotted that obvious error left to entertain us tune nerds:   Rambling Pitchfork was played before Black Rogue.

It strikes me that these are real "feel good" videos, as exemplified by the obvious enjoyment of the performers. They must surely pass on that pleasure to anyone listening, certainly did for me!

Absolutely lovely!
I like the way you add those bass drones in at the end of the first tune.
Another example of the clarity of sound you can get playing outdoors and illustrating what a well known record producer once told me: "air is the best mixer".
But above all, the joyful exuberance of it all!

My parents usually get to their PEI summer home on this day.
They get a lobster from one of the local fishermen and have a traditional start of the summer meal.
This would be the 50yr of this tradition set to be broken, maybe by these times.
I hope not its a lovely place!!

In the constructive criticism department, have you thought of suggesting that the bouzouki player (whose solo was very nice) and the bodhran player swap positions? That way the bouzouki man would appear to be looking inwards towards the group instead of away from you (I say "appear", because his eyes are really riveted on his left hand), which I think would be an improvement (purely visually).

Of course it might have the aural effect of making the bodhran louder in the mix. I think he's already a bit too prominent myself (although, as all the bodhran players I know might say, I would say that wouldn't I?).

The issue with the iPhone recordings is that the sound of the bodhran tends to dominate as you have mentioned. Someone once took a few videos of us playing from the bodhran player’s side of the stage, and as soon as he began drumming the levels got all messed up and the fiddle/box/bouzouki all but disappeared. Keeping him as far away from the camera has proven to work best, and I say that with all due respect for him and his lovely playing!
