Now If I knew what Inconnu meant then I might get the joke.

Dictionary: unbeknown, strange, unfamiliar, obscure, nameless, anonymous, undiscovered, unacquainted, undetermined, unknown

Here's the second recorded performance of LIDL by musicians at the Butchers Arms Free Music Session, North End, Essex.  We said we would try to have another go.  This time most of us had prepared the tune (except me, as you will notice!)  Apols for the late submission, but the session only meets once a month.

Finally, I made it ... better late than never ;-)
Played on my Hohner Club IV - as I have got it via ebay,
needs valves replaced and also be retuned but it is playble after all.

Great - really liked it, especially the basses. The two tunes are beginning to morph in my head - now when I start on LIDL I jump unintentionally into MTW. You don't seem to have any such problem.

I did when I first tried that set! I checked after I recorded it that I had got it right. The last time through Michael Turner's I spontaneously but intentionally morph into LIDL. I was going to morph back into MT at the end, but realised that I couldn't quite remember it :P

I too have had to seriously avoid cross contaminationof these two - especially in the A music. Lovely right hand chording within the melody - especially on the Limoise B music.  Anyone looking for technique - watch the use of finger 4 - see how he holds a 2 note part chord with index/middle fingers and keeps the tune running with fingers 3+4.  There are broken chords, broken rhythms, fortunately no broken fingers (despite occasional transgression of the 30mph limit mid Michael Turners)!   ;)

I must admit that I hadn't spotted the similarities between the two tunes at all.   :|bl   So, it's really interesting to see how you've done that, not to mention the all the nice variations going on in there.  Thanks.

Well after taking a strong stance on the use of 4 fingers it would be hypocritical for me to do anything else :P

And yes, it did speed up in MT, but then using that rhythm sound better when faster. I slowed it down again at the end.

Mind you, I bloody hope that it was good, after the fiasco of this morning's exam it may be that busking will be my principal source of income :P

Just to say I met up with Maxou at Chateau D'Ars Festival (used to be St Chartier) and he had followed this thread.
He said he'd been particularly pleased to see 'beginners and improvers' having a go at his tune.  ;D

Thanks for posting that Chris. Crickey that's an ear-opener. It's nothing like the way I'd been playing it, largely a version of the versions in this thread. Heretical I know, but I think it's cured me of MAD, and I'm straight down the hurdy gurdy shop when it opens.
