Bah, I'm going to mis out on this one - still haven't got round to making a video and I have mock exams all week so won't have time now. Ah well, TOTM has introduced me to a wonderful tune that I had never come across before.  (:)

While you were sleeping...

It isn't midnight yet in Michigan, so I think I squeaked my video in while it is still officially November. It might very well bring tears to your eyes, though not necessarily for reasons imagined by by M. Heintzen. Thanks to all the TOTM participants from whom I plagiarized everything!

Egged on by Lester I've got video working on my new Brownie and signed to youtube. Bit of a learning curve in this video lark (gosh it eats battery) but all came right in the end.

Here's my go at Maxou's tune in C on the new box. I only use the basic 8 basses.

Well I have been trying for 4 weeks but still haven't got it right so have had to fall back on the Dancemaster 1 row where you don't have to think about the basses.

I don't regret the effort trying to get it right.

Graham

I really like this version!

(Rees...'Oscar Woods goes to Paris' this time? lol)

November's come and gone, and we have a new tune for December, Princess Royal, so I'm unstickying this topic... but please, if you've got new videos of this L'Inconnu de Limoise, keep posting and commenting on them here!

Once again, many thanks to Maxou Heintzen for his generousity in letting us play his wonderful tune.

Cheers,

Clive

Here's my second attempt at the Tune of the Month.  I've been working on the left hand for at least an hour every day this month, believe it or not...Before I started this tune, I had only attempted a couple of tunes with one chord on the bass side.  So when I tried L'Inconnu, it took about two weeks before I could even make my fingers go to the right chords...so progress is happening sloooowly...So thanks to the person who thought up this idea of Tune of the Month...It's been fun trying and also wonderful to hear all the great players out there doing so many different things with the same tune.

Thanks. But the basses were absolutely bog standard. A principle of impro is that you do it over the existing riff.

Here || C | Am | F  | G    || C | Am | F | G ||
        || F | C  | Am | Am ||  F | F   | G | C ||

In G: || G | Em | C  | D   ||  G | Em | C | D ||
        || C | G  | Em | Em ||  C | C   | D | G ||

What a fantastic box  :o What is it?

Bertrand Gaillard's 'Saphire' with 18 bass, rows: F#slightly modified G and C

Actually I have particularly enjoyed the one-row versions

[edit] D'you know .. so did I.  On a melodeon, as in life, sometimes less is more :|glug C

Sounding superb, lovely deep rich sound. Maybe I should consider F#GC if I ever have the time and money to learn it.

Well it's a very rushed effort as I'm off out to play for some Swedish dancers in a few minutes. Had to join Youtube and get it into English too.  First video I've made of myself too. Bloody hell ! What a work up.

My effort was on a Saltarelle Connamara II :|bl

They might be bog standard but I sure can't play them like that (:)

That tone is simply that of the G/C accordion. Most of them have it, but Binci reeds are scrumtious. It might even sound better if not put through the camera's micro-microphone  ;)

Our D/G was never really 'meant' in this respect, tone is thin playing upper keybord notes, but it does suit British keys. NB F#GC is simply 'a system' and you could order 'French' or Pignol/Milleret' more cheaply. Gaillard surcharges 10% for own system.

I was only using its upper voice (of 2). Now I've lost my youtube virginity I might try one in lower register. That's really got balls!

Aye, but playing in D on a G/C would be the same as playing in A on a D/G, a bit of a bother. F#GC would make an awful lot of sense.

And it goes lower? I really want one :P

Right, finally my attempt...

I'm glad its tune of the month and not tune of the fortnight as it is taking me a whole month to learn the buggers!

An over due entry for November I know, but it's mainly here to show off the T-Shirt
On my Emmanuel Pariselle, "Box of Gold" Which I just love to bits.
Thought I'd only done one, but there's two on this clip. Buy one get one free.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgyNUALARo0

T-Shirt is more visible at the end.
