I was once told by a Kiowa woman that in her tribe those who talked too much were called "little brains" and the wise elders were called "listeners", so perhaps we need an epithet that implies frequency of posting rather than the quality.

I would love it if "Respected Greybeard" was replaced by "good listener" (:)

But you can only "earn" it by talking a lot?

Yep ;D That's why I'd love it if it were so.

Loquacious Lady is quite elegant for those posting matters of great import but who is to be the judge of that.

Good listener could only apply to someone who has made no posts.

I have just spotted that I am also a 'respected greybeard'. I grew a beard years ago when suffering from chicken pox but my wife made it fairly clear that she wasn't that keen on beards in the marriage bed.
So I also need term which describes my glabrous chin and vacant mind.

"Respected Greybeard" now replaced with "Respected Sage"

Any better ideas will be considered.

Sorry I'm trying to find a suitable gender-neutral term!

Regardless of the gender issue, "Respected Greybeard" doesn't really cut it because it implies that one is respected simply because one has a lot to say, not because one is saying something redolent of wisdom and experience.

Surely that's precisely how you get to be a Respected Greybeard....by having a lot to say, even if it's a load of old *******s.
I really enjoyed being a Respected Greybeard (even though I don't possess a beard of any colour, despite my best efforts). It somehow seems appropriate, and Respected Sage just doesn't have the same ring about it.

I like "Vertran Squeezer" personally, as suggested above.  :||:
