Look at the tune itself. It isn't hugely obvious I have to admit, but the first time I heard it it struck me immediately.

How about 'We Three Kings'? It's a well-known carol, not too hard to play, and also has a lovely 6/8 jig-style rhythm that gives lots of possibilities for varying speeds, styles and tempo changes. It actually feels very much like an old folk tune - is it, I wonder?
Also, what about 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'??!! Again, fairly easy tune with nice chord possibilities (jaunty G Em Am D vamp under the tune perhaps?). And it's a Christmas classic, my friends!!!

'Stop the Cavalry'? - turns up a fair bit in Sessions, and we used to play it for a border morris dance (I think, mainly because our lead musician knew Jona Lewie - not sure the dance was one of the enduring one's for the side!)

Oh yes indeedy. I sometimes pair this with In Dulci Jubilo.

I'd also suggest (before anyone else does  :D ) Ding Dong Merrily on High, aka The Official Branle.

Cheers,

Clive

We also use Stop the Cavalry/Rub-a-Dub for a border dance - although we don't bother with the C music for some reason. Is the C music part of the traditional tune or something that Jonah Lewie added?

Perhaps this tune would be a good compromise - festive, but not a Christmas carol.

Good King Wenceslas - my favourite Crimbo tune to play on the box, closely followed by...
Seven Joys of Mary and Silent Night (works really well on the D row and has great opportunity for interesting basses).

In the Bleak Midwinter - the only carol worth the bother (in my opinion).

Or for a bit of kitch - Little Drummer Boy

I like Good King Wenceslas, and the Holly and the Ivy (preferably with the second most common tune it's sung with in the UK), and the French Carol Il est ne.
