Fergie MacDonald's Ceilidh Band
« on: February 09, 2008, 09:38:05 AM »

We recently had a series of 6 1-hour TV programmes about "Scotland's Music" on BBC TV. Here is a video of Fergie MacDonald's Ceilidh Band from one of the programmes. In it, he and his son John play their Saltarelle accordions with modified (chord only) basses, thought I doubt if that's noticeable in the band setting. (I'm sorry, but I think the BBC video clips can only be viewed in the UK).

The main programme is at:

Well worth watching  as it clearly demonstrates that Fergies chord only system seems to have got round the BC bass problems very well.  Im not sure what his bass layout is but  with chords from Bflat to B it should be possible to get a bit of accompanyment for 6 keys.
