lso use a software program called Riffster which I use to slow down tunes that I have recorded or tunes off of recordings without changing the pitch of the note.  Another program that does this is Slowdowner.  Both allow you to hear the notes at a much slower tempo so as to play along or pick them out with ease.  These programs also loop parts that you highlight so you can hear that part played over and over again at the tempo you prefer.  A great help to me.
