Possible 'Theme of The Month'....Tunes in a minor Key. Just a thought.

I thought we'd done this one?

There might be one that got missed...

A quick examination of the inestimable Mr Bailey's Index tells us it was only jigs...so polka, waltz, hornpipe mazurka to your heart's (or anyone else's heart's) content.

How about a theme for one of Ian Hayden's efforts - plenty of tune styles there. And it would give me an excuse to play 'Evalina Mazurka'.

Maybe it's been done I don't know. If it has, maybe it could be done again...

A theme of the month - tunes with a person's name in the title.
I'm sure there must be a good choice of tunes there.  (:)

It's been done a couple of times, last time was quite recently (September 2018). No reason why it can't be done again, I suppose.

Dare I suggest outdoor activity songs for  Theme of the rapdly approachingg month?
That could be work songs, rowing songs, marching songs or songs about outdoor leisure activities and in/from whatever language/culture takes your fancy.
Obviously I have something in mind myself.....

Seeing as we've had a mention of Machynlleth in Roland Carson's latest thread, how about Machynlleth as tune of the month - it's a cracker!
Or Welsh tunes in general, as theme of the month. It was March 2010 when we had 'Tunes from Wales'.

it's highly Ashokan's Farewell will make the poll

Glad to hear it :D AL
I agree, it's a nice tune and I may even enter into the fray meself - I've only heard the midi so it's a good test for a relative newbie...

Welcome back Al, I’d missed you. I think Ashokan's Farewell was done several years back 🤔 I hear it every day at present as “Civil War” is being repeated during Covid shutdown

But my main reason for posting is to congratulate you on the 1000th post in this thread! 👏

I think you've gone through a bit of a time warp Chris. Al's post was 11 years ago! Also the 1000th reply was Baz Parkes'

How about, for a Theme of the month, "Tunes not usually associated with the free reed"?

Thanks Lester, but I think tunes or themes have been repeated before now, so there's no harm, is there?

I honestly think we've done just about every possible theme, ever. So yes they do get repeated. Tunes get repeated too, but that's not usually intentional!

Not sure what went wrong. I’ve just spotted the number in post headers, counting backwards from my post was a bit naive 🙄  “posts” and “replies” differ by one of course, and some here do occasionally delete, it renumbers. .

That said Baz is presently reply 999, post 1000 and gets my praise for that, I hope from all, except Al who might be busy praising the Lord! 😉

But we all deserve plaudit for a great, long, constructive and good natured thread.

spotted my error. I’d somehow quoted a 2009 post. Big whoops 🤥 sorry
