The second tune is a version of The Holly and the Ivy. Very well played indeed, I really enjoyed that, you added great bounce to the tune. Lovely little box too, sounds great!  (:)
Someone else said that, but I didn't believe it because the words don't fit. Unless there are some different words. I haven't been able to find any.

Yay - it's the Hobos Morris Christmas dance out tomorrow, and while the rest of the band will be performing their orchestral manoeuvres in broad daylight (if anyone has heard the Hobos they will know what I mean  ;)), I shall be generally lowering the tone like this ...  ::)

Bill, Both tunes are excellent. I've already learned the tune Sussex Carol from your video and now I'm working on the second one.
I found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVsIoi0b8tY awesome.
I'd like to have the words and the sheet/ABC music for this tune to speed-up my learning.
Thank You, Miki

Well it's St Lucia celebrations here in Sweden today. So we start with that. Then it's a free for all as they come off the digits. Warts and all.

Merry Christmas to one and all and as the last tune says it in the Chorus. We wish you A Happy New Year.

Bill,
You are my man.
The tune you played on your great video is not exactly the same as the melody on the linked page.
Here is my transcription (I hope you really played this (:) ) of your playing the tune "The Holy and the Ivy" combined with words from the singing of a group of people from Dungworth.

That's very impressive. I've never had any dots for this tune, I just learnt it from listening to the mummers. I don't have any dots for the version of Princess Royal I played either, I'm weaning myself off them. The version in that link was good enough for me, plus or minus half a trench we used to say when I worked for the electric light company.

Extending the theme of lowering the tone, and as the Christmas theme entries are looking a bit thin, here's another contribution: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBpBgWlyvlI. I lost the plot at the end, too much red wine with dinner.

For those that use Spotify there is a great versionon there of O The Holly She Bears A Berry by The Chieftains with The Voice Squad. It is on The Bells of Dublin which is full of quality festive tunes.

Tim

Oh, there is some decent box playing on this CD as well, none other than Paddy Moloney himself!

I wasn't sure where this theme would take me, but i have made an attempt at Santa claus is coming to town.  Just letmy fingers decide.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5l_BGvsRLM  there's one or two mistakes but it's close enough.  I used my Hohner Echo IV for this.

Here's an offering for Christmas. I have recorded a snippit of Personent Hodie, a 14th century carol on my old three-row wooden Hohner in F#BE. I hope everyone has a joyous holiday..........jwf

Ian Cruikshanks (aka DRUMKILBO of this forum) has just posted this little beauty on YouTube
Welcome Christmas Morning by Sir Jimmy Shand. I have vinyl of the great man playing this tune - and frankly I believe this version to be easily as good. Great stuff!

Here's my Christmas offering. 'How far is it to Bethlehem' played on the Primo with uptodate pictures of Bethlehem etc., hope you like it. Sound quality still a bit ragged however.
