Spoilers
« on: December 02, 2009, 02:44:47 PM »

Other fora that I have been on have spoilers or expand tags. As far as I'm aware this isn't something that is available on this one and I think that it would be very useful when posting ABCs etc.
Stuff goes in here
This folds it away with a little button such that you can then expand it out in a box if you click on it.

I use the *[acronym] tag increasingly. Especially since some here got bored with my comments on musical modes.  ;)

Admins - why not allow txt files as attachments?  Though I feel a hide/reveal button for verbousity would be a boon for some members (me included)  :|bl

* run your cursor over it to see what I mean

Talkawhile , which runs on the same board program as this forum, has one. It may have been written by Colin the Admin, I don't know, but shows it is possible.

I don't know what these things are,  can you post a link to a message on Talkawhile that includes these so I can take a look?

The grey button in the first post... hmm, you may have to be signed in to see it.

Edit: ah, bugger, you do. Attached is a before and after.

Ok I can see the difference, but I can't see the point?

If I see there is something hidden I would need to click on it before I could tell if it was something I wanted to read or not read.   If its there in plain text I can just scan the text and skip over anything irrelevant  (I do that a lot on mel.net ;D)

If you put a great long screed between [~code] and [~/code] markers like this, it gets put in a scrolling box with the first part showing, so you can see what it is, and you can scroll down to see the rest, or copy it, if it's abc, for example. Also, on other boards, I have seen a [ +], possibly with a header, which, if you click on it, turns into a [-], and reveals whatever was hidden.

As Bill suggested in reply above yours try:

Why? This is why. Imagine if all of these ABCs were enclosed in spoilers.

I have some interesting tunes here.
