"MY ERICA NEEDS NEW FEET!"
« on: December 12, 2009, 02:57:51 AM »

Erica's got a new bass strap thanks to Ajay38 and she is  feeling VERY good!! ;-)
But now she can't stand on her on "two feet" cause the strap is thicker.

Does anybody know where I could buy/get her four new rubber feet that would actually FIT on the Hohner Erica model?

So far, the best I've come up with are round sticks of wood that we can buy at the local hardware store.  Cut them at the desired height then drill a hole and slide a screw right through and fasten it on the other side with a washer and a lock tight nut.  That's about it for now.  Maybe not the "fanciest  pair of shoes" for my Erica but it will do the job.

The feet would need to be about 3/4 to an inch high.

All your suggestions are welcome!

Thanks!

I think you might check out the same website that you found the strap at.  I'm pretty sure I saw them there.

OK thanks Drew, I'll check it out at once.
I just removed the cheap metal "thumb tacks" Erica comes with.  No great loss.  Just getting her ready for upgrade! ;-)

Drew,

BTW WHAT "shoes" did you fit your Double Ray with after you upgraded the bass strap?...or did you just leave it as is...is it wabbly?...

Just curious.

Also, I checked the site out, they only have two different sets: one with a 3/4 diameter and the other 1 inch  BUT they don't specify the height.
Kinda looks like they're about 3/8 high.  Not quite enough to clear the strap "comfortably".

If worst comes to worst as they say,  I have no problem fitting my Erica with those wooden dowels cut to lenght then painted black. (Just maybe not as professional looking)

We'll see.

Hi Mario
If you're a wine drinker (or know someone who is) use the black synthetic 'corks' cut and drilled to suit.

... howz about a festive 'Bring a black corked bottle' New Feet party ;D  (much more fun than going to the store ;)

I got rubber feet for my Hohner club box from Charlie Marshall, as the original domed pin things were missing. The ones you can get from hardware shops are always too big.

Hey, you guys are funny! :D

Meanwhile, since they are readily available I think I'll be fitting her with a pair of  fine wooden clogs.  That way I can get her the EXACT size clogs that she needs.  Best of all, She'll be fitted today!! :-)

I'll keep you guys posted!.

Well, Erica's got her new pair of made to measure "black suede shoes!".
Those wooden dowels worked out fine.  Wish I could post a picture but it's not working out.  File too big.  I can post pictures on Yahoo, eBay...just about every other forums...but this one is another thing.

The idea behind the new feet was that they had to be high enough NOT to have the leather bass strap squished.   I used 7/8 inch  long dowels that I cut from a long  woodden stick which is 3/4 inch diameter.  Then I drilled a hole to be able to insert a metal screw size #6, 32 for a total lenght of 1 1/4 inch long  with washer and nut awaiting on the inside.  Then painted her new  shoes black.  Voila! :-)

Now she's back on her legs where everyone says:  that is the accordion best position to be in when not being played.  It should always be stored upright.

Nice job Mario, very neat! The advantage about the rubber feet is that they absorb shocks, but as long as you don't drop the box onto the feet you should be fine.
