Yes! I've been playing it everywhere I go this Christmas, and shall be getting my congregation on Sunday to sing it at our traditional carol service. It's great fun, the kids love it - and Bob Dylan has just got himself a whole new set of fans!

mmm...not so sure, twas a long time ago when it was fashionable to turn off Dylan...I've got a whole bunch of kids within my remit who are discovering his work because of this 'Must Be Santa' song. Established Dylan fans have always been used to him doing this sort of thing and are not likel;y to get turned off his music just because of his Christmas Album - all the profits of which are going to feed around 35 million people in the next year. But his other latest serious album offering 'Together Through Life' is vintage Dylan. And the 'Love and Theft' album has recently been voted Newsweek's Album of the decade, so I don't think he'll be harmed in any way by his philanthropic excursion.

I hear that the new Bob Dylan Christmas album features David Hidalgo of Los Lobos. He usually plays a 3-row diatonic button box.

Its high points for me were

  • Bill Oddie  ??? on accordion
  • All those people coming down stair - none went up!
  • The chandelier in the garden
  • The end (as one says)

btw - "Christmas Carol" was published 166 years ago today. The interesting thing being that no Briton has called his/her mewling boy infant "Ebeneezer", since :|glug

.......Bill Oddie  ??? on accordion......

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.

Can't make my mind up about the album yet, though.

Well...for what it's worth I think the Christmas album is pretty pants - which of course maintains a long and fine tradition of Christmas Albums. The only decent track on the album for me is the 'Must be Santa' track. Strangely enough my own church's offering last year 'Together' was so much better than I thought it could've been. Perhaps I'm getting old...

The PA was a vintage Lira by the International Accordion co of Detroit. Made in Italy.
The people running through the house reminded me of my grandchlildren ! However none of them has crashed through a window--yet.

Bob said ' There's no such thing as good or bad music it's only good or bad if it's good or bad!'

That's that clarified then .
