I am indebted to Matt Quinn and Malcolm Woods for this exquisite bit of silliness:

Whoa!! Caution.
This isn't the first time this vid has been posted on here and I made the mistake of saying how much I liked it.
I was set upon by a couple of Lord Jimmy's rabid disciples who appeared to have had a humour bypass. Disgrace! Disrespectful! A slur on his sainted memory!
I had to feel sorry for 50 cent.
Sorry but I still like it.

Retreating now to my haggis-proof shelter.

What a wonderful comparison between proper music as exemplified by the great Shand, and the idiot mumbling nonsense recorded by someone called 50 Cent. Why, btw, is there no plural? Surely it should be 50 cents? Or 50 sent? Or is it french 'cent'?

BTW I quite enjoyed my humour by-pass, or is that statement an oxymoron?  ;D

Rather wonderful. I assume that it is a double track rather than 50c voicing over JS?

My first ANALitical thought was that it was a nice demo of the effect of two people with truly strict rhythm. But there's more to it.  Made me appreciate how much underlying structure there is in Rap - as the voice tone changes moved in time with Shand's key changes.  8)

An alternative take might be just how far one can take improvisation and it still work! In these terms both musicians maintain strict tempo, and within phrases are true to their chosen 'scales'. I was shot down when I urged the importance of these in music a couple of weeks ago.  OK - I'm weird  :D

I quite agree! And I also I doubt whether Mr Cent's, [ahem]...'music' will last as long as your man Shand!

I agree. I realised a little while ago just how much skill there is in rap, or how much there should be. Some of them use really quite interesting rhythms and chose their words very cleverly. It certainly is music, although it is not particularly to my taste :P And some of it is simply dreadful it goes without saying.

Funny!

I'd rather hear a rapper with the low notes than accidentals though.
