Ah yes - wonderful, groundbreaking music! And it was all done by analogue methods. No cutting and pasting digital files. In my day you got your scissors and splicing tape out.
Here's an extract - the last part of Part 1, with the extended guitar riff before the voice introduces all the instruments

I don't think that was Nicholas Parsons on voiceover - but it rather sounds like him. And it absolutely wasn't Cutting on melodeon!

it's Viv Stanshall (voiceover, not melodeon), whose own earlier The Intro and The Outro with the Bonzos - in fact as linked above by LdT - was maybe an influence
