Diane, I take your point about too many cross-chords "because you can" ... this was the first time I had used many of these chords, and it was a trial / inspiration from some ideas posted on this forum. I enjoyed doing it because it was new & different (to me), but all together in one (short) piece is probably a bit much.

Chris :||:

Hi Chris,
Thanks for not taking offence - none meant! However, I liked the cross- (diagonal) chords - sounded melodic. It was the others - the 'linear' ones ie the straight lines of 3 or 4 bass notes - which I was less convinced about.

Regards, Diane

....I liked what I think are the [i
diminished[/i] chords ie the 'cross' ones, but not too sure about some of the others - grated a bit, I thought.

I'm not absolutely sure about this, but I have a suspicion that some of the left hand reeds on zubz233's box are not quite in tune with the right side!

I've struggled with this tune this month, more so than I expected - it just kept on coming out completely differently every time I played it! So, here's today's version. Who knows what it will be like tomorrow?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyMXTp_oWdQ

Rather like DTN's splendid version (the middle bit anyway), this is played as a hornpipe rather than a waltz or a jig; I really think it makes a cracking hornpipe. The box is a Castagnari Giasco 1 (built mostly for the Basque market, now no longer made) in D/G, and with unisonoric basses.

Cheers,

Clive

I really like that Clive (:) One of the chord patterns I want to do something else, but I can't work out which or what at the moment. Lovely stuff though, some really nice harmonies going on there and it makes such a sweet hornpipe >:E

And that is what  I would call short nails...used to be about a centimetere longer its taken me a long time to get used to having shorter nails.

I really liked the tempo, too. Nice jaunty lope to it. ;D
Thanks. Jaunty Lope...sounds like a name of a band. lol!

If this is a hornpipe I love it! Such a restrained and yet rhythmically strong interpretation of the tune (er, for want of a more informed way of putting it)! I am amazed at the range of interpretations of OIB, really interesting (:)

Finally managed to find somewhere to put this (my youtube account seems to have gone tits up and movie maker wasn't playing ball) so here is my attempt for this month - http://www.onmvoice.com/play.php?a=14541 First played as a waltz, then as a hornpipe. Hope you like it.  (:) :||:
