Here's an eleventh hour fling at the O'Carolan list, being in a rather reflective mood, I decided to try "Captain O'Kane". Just under the wire, played on the one-row pokerwork (that I'm wasting so much valuable time on), with guitar acc'mp'ny'm'nt.

This is just so beautiful. Thank you. .....and I love the video too.

Inspired.

Ah, I love that tune - but had no idea what is was called or who composed it.  Thanks.

According to the http://www.thesession.org/index.php

Ah - "The Wounded Huzzar" - yes, now you mention it, I've heard it called that.  Thanks, again.

With March we move into another Theme of the Month, Tunes from Wales, and so the Carolan theme becomes unstickied, but please keep posting here if you've got a Carolan tune you'd like us to hear - we'd all still love to hear it!

Cheers,

Clive

If you're willing to accept 31st February as the last day of the month, I've arrived just in time with Planxty Fanny Power....

Hallo
Mucking about, late night, beer taken, tried again to get a decent video from an ipod. Failed but I've left it up there. I'm hoping Planxty Irwin is an O'Carolan tune. If not then apologies. I know that I'm well out of date and if there's a law then, guilty as charged.

That's two vids now and I'm gettting the bug so I might just invest in a decent recording device - suggestions on a wax cylinder please.

I just love my Theomorphed Hohner C/F.

I obviously need to start drinking more beer.  Thanks for giving me the excuse - lovely playing, Martin, and the box sounds beautiful.

Well I've performed minor sacrilege and played Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór as a waltz. I know, I know, but it works. Played on my 12-bass Preciosa with a bit of RH harmony and an interesting chord pattern made up by my girlfriend. Sorry it's late!

Oh, and I didn't get any sleep last night. :P

Eleanor Plunkett isn't a tune I've previously heard played by anyone. I have now and I like it! Lovely playing.

Just reading back through this thread that I seem to have missed out on.
I learned Eleanor Plunkett back in the seventies from the legendary piccolo player, John Doonan.
What a great tune, I must revive it for the session this Thursday.

I've been ignoring my old Hohner recently in favour of my new fancy Castagnari, but after working on learning Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór on the D/G Dinn III, I couldn't resist giving it a try on the Hohner:
