When a tune gets stuck in your head ...play it out!
« on: February 12, 2010, 05:50:50 PM »

'Star of the County Down'
http://www.onmvoice.com/play.php?a=13681

This well known tune tormented me today (don't know why either) so i decided ...record it quick in whatever style comes to mind!!
Then its gone and i can move on to other tunes! ...... So here it is!

I'm sure you all get the "Can't get this tune out of my head" syndrome!
Not great quality as i overloaded the gain on my recorder ... but at least i can rest now!! ;D

(finally at peace with another tune now!)

Jolly fine stuff old chap.  However, you have got it off your chest but I have got to go and learn to play it now.  I'll tell the wife it is your fault I can't do the gardening this weekend.  Cheers

Ah, wonderful!

It has never occurred to me to play that on box, now I'll have to get after it.  That's good stuff right there!

Derek,
Do you have dots / abc for the version you are playing, or are you an ear-man? I have found a number of versions and tried pulling them about in various ways, but none of them satisfy me.
Any help appreciated.

I love the bass on this. To latch onto another thread, this is the level of bass presence that never is heard--and never seems appropriate--in Irish jigs and reels. Interesting that my example is "Star of the County Down"
many thanks for that: great playing as always

Just made up the style on the spot by ear ... deliberately that way to make the Bass sound more interesting!   cheers Derek :|||:

Cracking stuff - as usual. Hope this doesn't put the tune back in your head, but we finish this tune by doing it once through as a WALTZ.

'All the gear but no idea'? You seem to be getting the hang of it. ;) :|glug

A great tune played well. Inspiring stuff! I dont think its to do with any particular style, but the playing makes it sound like the tune is really being felt.
