Sorry - after receiving some constructive critisicm and 'must try harder' feedback, I'm not so comfortable about leaving this one on public display.  I know some people enjoyed it and I thank them for their feedback.  However, I now realise that more work's needed in what I was wanting to do and that I should address that before making another video.

By hook or by crook, you folks are at least making me (ok...inspiring me to) learn 2 songs a month!  Here's a rough version of Ar Hyd Y Nos:

I thought I had a great Welsh tune, but turns out the tune was not from Wales, :-[ so I was in the ditch for a bit. Here's one that everyone will probably recognize, which I privately call "Variations on a Welsh Folk Song in F# for Three Hohners", but is more commonly known as The Ash Grove;D

Nicely done, jwf! Thanks for posting. This multi-tracking lark is catching on ... must give it a go.
Lovely contribution to ThOTM.

Eeeek!
One evening left and we've still got a Welsh tune or two to be played, recorded and posted - and we have to get ready for a long weekend away and I have to get a magazine off to the printers.
(and I can't start on any of that till I get home from work...)

Just in time before the month is up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNAKaJBfhr0 Meillionen - a Set Dance Tune
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxsA2kF0j4Q Two Welsh Minuets (really!)

We play these quite a lot in sessions etc. but have never rehearsed them to proper performance standard and the videos are both arranged-on-the fly single takes. The original plan was for me to play cello with Mary's concertina.

Anyway, pretty tunes, all three... enjoy!

After the problems with the first attempt, I've decided to have another go at the same tune.  Hopefully, I won't get cold feed with this one.

I loved it the first time around. To be honest I'm a bit disappointed that you need to seek perfection quite so much and you feel that you have to make such a short clip in order to be error free. You're full of foibles, but in a delightful way. Please don't let your misgivings stilt your natural talent to entertain. You have a gift, truly you have. Don't spoil it with angst. Believe in yourself, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that we do.

I was lucky to see the first attempt before it was removed, but I cannot say wich one is better. As for me both are fine in their own way. Pitty there's no first one any more  :-[

Thank you, Pete.  Although I know they're not positive traits, I fear that angst and a lack of confidence are just a part of who I am.

You are partially right about why I make short clips.  It's true that, at least sometimes, it's done to avoid making more mistakes.  However, I also believe that it's better to keep YouTube videos only as long as they need to be.  I know that viewers (myself included) can be very eagre to press the 'stop' button before a video has ended, so I try not to give extra reasons for people to do that.  Thus, I tend to avoid repeating a tune, if there's nothing significant I'm going to add to it.

Thanks for the first set of 3 tunes Steve, they go well together and add to my trip around the countries style of my playing at our local session.
