As the entries this month have already been so good, I've decided to throw in the towel on this one - and get Arthur to do it instead.  Unfortunately, since that distressing snake incident of last year, he seems to have gone off the rails somewhat...

Sooo good . Thank you all for such inspiring versions (:) The TOTM is really bringing my melodeon playing on. Hopefully I shall get to put a tune up before long.

Here's an attempt of the Schottische version ... from one of the "mere mortals" of this parish.

Chris
If that's what it takes to be a "mere mortal"... I'm glad March is a long month 'cause I've got a LOOOONG way to go!

What is the wording for the credit for the plane tree?

Hey, now this made me feel like dancing!

Really?  That's certainly a nice surprise.  It's unexpected because what I know about dancing can be written on the back of a postage stamp.   It's not something I have experience of at all.

So, maybe Arthur knows something I don't!   ;)

No official wording on this one - I think it's fair to credit the jig version to Undine Hornby; the schottische version is generally thought to be traditional. Credit as you see fit!

Cheers,

Clive

This month I was able to get on top of the tune early. I think my Schottische sounds a bit Eastern European.

Now I am going to learn Clive's version, and then try to put it in an odd measure.

It really does sound Eastern European, doesn't it? I'm going to learn your version!

Negativity - boff!   But there aren't any basses if you play it that way! You need to 'go with' the bass on this instrument. Sorry,  but I cannot repeat often enough I cannot repeat often enough to plan these initially rather than hope to find something after learning a right hand

The chords I'd use are (but do be flexible ...)

   Em.pull     | Em.pull     | C.pull    | Em.pull |
   C (both ways) | A.bass (mainly pull ) | C.push | B push |

The C_both_ways bit is the awkward part - you have to wiggle your bellows to get D and E notes.
All the rest you just walk your fingers around to the notes you need with bellows same direction

and C A C B => Em makes a nice 'cadence' -  Do try it (please)!  Happy squeezing Chris

edit {Lester and I aren't going to agree on this one either  - but if you want to sound anything like Clive, that's how}

Sorry,  but I cannot repeat often enough I cannot repeat often enough that one man's definite definition of the right way to do something may well be totally wrong for you and you should try it out and see if it fits and if it does use it, if not throw it away.

Here's a quick take on Plane Tree. No video as it's not to hand. This is how I learnt this tune some time ago with sessions in mind.
Hope to listen and watch the others now and come up with something new by the end of the month.

DEREK

This is why I love TOTM!  I have been playing for just over 2 years and have so much to learn; Derek's version, and others like it, are such an inspiration and a motivation to keep on practising and learning new techniques.  This one brought a huge smile to my face ....... actually, it was more of an inane grin!

Nice, and not overdone - a common mistake when using reverb 1st time.
