Melodeons at DERT!!!
« on: March 08, 2008, 07:52:28 PM »

I watched one of the morning sessions of the Rapper Tournament in Liverpool today.

While we saw some great dancing, I would like to congratulate the melodeon players accompanying some of the teams.

Playing double jigs at high speed while keeping perfect 'metronome-like' timing for the dancers is challenging on any instrument let alone the melodeon. Then they work some perfect tune changes to fit with the flow of the dance.

Well done guys - hopefully one of you will, by now, have won the musicians competition!

Cheers. Although I actually played my concertina for the competition, and my melodeon at the session later on!
