Hard Case for a melodeon
« on: March 19, 2008, 02:39:49 PM »

Can anyone help please.

I have bought a second hand 3 throw melodeon but it has no case.

I would like to buy a hard case for it and this is proving rather difficult.

I have searched the net unsuccessfully.

The minimum internal dimensions are 31cm by 32cm by 20cm.

Can anyone suggest a suitable case please. Although I would prefer a hard case, a soft gig bag would be better than nothing. However I cannot see a suitable one of those either.

Perhaps that's why it came without a case!

Many thanks,

Where are you located? There are usually hard and soft cases for various sized of accordions in most shops selling them.
Visit the Links section on melodeon.net.

Sorry forgot to put the location.

I'm in Hampshire UK but having tried most of the suppliers in the links section as you suggested nothing seems to fit the bill or rather nothing seems to fit the melodeon!!

Sorry again I have just noticed a typo in the original post.

It should of course read 3 row not 3 throw. I am not having that much trouble playing it despite the rather stiff bellows!!

Yes I usually have a gig bag that would fit, but none in stock at present.  I might be able to help with a secondhand case that originally came with a Castagnari Mory.  Not sure exactly what condition its in as yet.

That's good to know.

Please repost when you have more details as I am very interested.

Sadly the box would in no way compare with the Mory.

Just a thought - it is the Easter Festival at Fernham Hall Fareham this weekend.  Friday, Sat, Sun.  If you are in the area or passing there are a couple of music stalls usually the two larger UK chains - you don't need a ticket to get into the craft fair area.

Last year during Cleckheaton festival Music Room had a fair number of hard cases, some new and some secondhand, for sale left  from people wanting a soft case when they purchased a meloden. I think Hobgoblin had some odd sized cases if they fit you may get a bargin. As for me I use a soft back pack as I soon found a hard case a pain to cart around all day at festivals.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody.

This really is a very helpful forum especially for folk like me who haven't been playing for long.
