I'd like to access the playlist, Ollie, but I'm stuck as to how to do it. I'm already a Spotify user. When I click on the playlist, it asks me which application I want to use to open it. I'm chosen Spotify.exe from Programs, and when I select this it opens Spotify but I can't see the new playlist. Please can someone help a hopeless techno-numpty to sort this out?

Incidentally, I have been using the free-with-adverts version up to now (the trick is to wait until just before the end of a track, then start another track, and that way you skip the adverts). Today they sent me a new "End user agreement" which seemed to tell me that there were several different versions of the Spotify agreement, defined what those were, and asked me to accept that I would read and abide by the T&C for my agreement. I clicked "Accept", expecting to be told something more, but nothing else happened, so I seem to be carrying on as usual.

Just noticed today that the new Andy Cutting album has arrived at Spotify, and jolly good it is too (already got the CD of course).

De Temps Antan's new album 'Les Habits de Papier' has now hit Spotify... a quebecois trio made up of (mostly) ex La Bottine Souriante musicians if you've never met them before.

Excellent, thanks for that Clive. Listening now; fantastic stuff, I think I prefer these guys to Genticorum. Makes up for the sad lack of La Bottine on Spotify.

Indeed.  I've never heard Fabrice sing (!) - he's excellent.  And isn't that Bourbonnais bagpipe good? Both are absolutely rooted in powerful folk traditions and I love that jazz edge.

btw Fabrice's brother Phillipe is also well respected on Gurdy (and is on Spotify). As teenagers the Besson bros. were regular winners of the competition that Maxou runs at Embraud

The new June Tabor album, Ashore, featuring Andy Cutting has landed on Spotify. There are a couple of instrumentals on it, and Andy's playing is prominent on quite a few tracks.

It's a lovely album.

...and I've just discovered the Ingunn Bjorgo Band's 'Borderland' album (hey Ollie, I check your melodeon playlist on Spotify occasionally!) - it's beautiful (the album, not Ollie's list). Ingunn also has a solo album on there too; but the band album is the one that grabbed me.

Le Vent du Nord - La Part du Feu
Le Vent du Nord - Mesdames et Messieurs

...

Dazibao - E40
Peut-etre Jeanne - Peutetre Jeanne (nicked this off Ollie's list - love it)

...

and Banquet of Boxes

Enjoy,

Clive

Time to add a few more recent discoveries to this thread

Cocktail Diatonique (mentioned this in another thread somewhere else)
Christian Oller/Jean-Pierre Yvert - Entre Deux
Oller and Co - Mondeolino
Andy Cutting (and a whole lot of others) - The Cecil Sharp Project
Daniel Thonon - Master of the Diatonic Accordion (modest title  ::) ) ... though it seems to be mislabelled as Nicolas Boulerice, for no reason I can figure out.
Spiers and Boden - The Works

and, not sure if I've mentioned this one before,

Blowzabella - Vanilla. Check that one out if you've never heard it before.

Cheers,

Clive

Marge, re Bethany and Josefin.

I taught myself Josefin's by watching youtube with Shaun playing melodeon- loved it. Play a lovely harmony with friend on fiddle. Have tried it on melodeon but have to fluff one note as I can't go low enough!

Bethany's I was taught one evening by a friend at the Burwell Bash, on fiddle. I can now play it on box - the the middle part has a sneaky little run of notes which I am practicing like mad. I do take your point about it being a delicate little tune and note really right for oompah-pahs, but  until I can play supporting chords like Andy Cutting, that is the way I am having to play it. ;D

Now then, what's all this spotify thingy???

Here's some more:

Fabian Beghin / Didier Laloy - Cryptonique (lovely album, really)
Didier Laloy / Jean-Christophe Renault - Hors-piste

and from our own Simon Ritchie,

Melodeon Mania
Squeezebox Schizophrenia (including his astonishing "Anarchy in the UK" on melodeon)

Ooh. Look what just came by...

La Bottine Souriante's new album 'Appellation d'Origine Controlee'

... and closer to home, Chalktown's 'You Never See the One' and Paul Scourfield's 'Freshly Squeezed'.

The new LBS album doesn't seem very melodeon heavy; 7 tracks in and I've just heard the first one!  :-\ There may have been melodeon on previous tracks, but it's mixed *very* quietly in the background if so!

Boo! No Spotify available in Australia  >:(
Have you tried using a UK VPN service Juker?  This works for me with Spotify [and BBC iPlayer, ITV player, 40D...etc.]
They cost about a fiver a month in general.

Too true - funnily enough just been listening to that and beginning to try learning La Fee des Dents.  What a tune.
