I can't imagine that Mel would be a bad box teacher and anyone in the area who is in need of one should definitely give her a shout.

Thanks Owen! I've had very good results so far from my students! I'm sure you would also have *plenty* to teach someone if you ever got the chance!

I do charge for lessons - a very reasonable £20 an hour. Please get in touch if you're interested!

Val forgot to mention that Lucy is a fine melodeonista as well.  :|||:

I'm a Yorkie!
My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.

Hi,
My name is Brian and have Just bought a hohner double ray melodeon and don’t know where to start with it. I am a complete but keen beginner have you been plugging away at it for a while and struggling to get both ends working together in harmony.
If there is anyone in the north west area willing to help or advise I would be very grateful.
I can be contacted on 01942209901 (W

Hi Brian & welcome to melnet.   Whilst not quite the north west I am in Anglesey and  as well as regular lessons can do 'one offs'  for anybody having .a day out or holiday in north wales.  I teach both BC & DG and charge a reasona;ble £20 per 'generous' hour

Approx 2hrs from Manchester or Liverpool .

Hi George,

So kind of you to offer your services. I am nearer to Manchester, but if we are ever down your way I would like to take you up on your offer.

Regards,
Brian.

Brian - unless you want to learn over the internet "situation" is pretty critical in this

... Introduce yourself and simply ask for help - your post should include

o Where about you live (town)
  o Instrument - eg D/G or C/C#
  o level of experience
o do say if under 16 - any tutor then needs to discuss with parents

Decoding your phone number you look to live in/near Wigan. I'd have offered as that's not too far - but have an op coming up that'll make travel awkward for a while. Congrats on getting the other info in there and hope you find the right tutor.  May be available m'self in a few months.

Hello,  I live in Bromley, South London, and have a 2 row D/G melodeon, a black Stephanelli which I am starting to play for a Morris side (London Pride).

I have played out for dancing a couple of times ..

I also got a few carols going and played for carol singers, but I noticed my chords weren't the same as those they were singing.

I have worked through some of Daddy Long Les' lessons and watched other players a bit.

I am liking the volume of this instrument compared to the English concertina I have used till now, but I want to get off just using the G row and start getting better smoother chords...

I know a couple of people but am open to suggestions and advice.
