Audacity for Melodeon?
« on: June 16, 2010, 10:24:33 AM »

Hope this is the right place.

Anyone any experience of audacity for recording tunes?

Any advice as to what else may be freely available?

Cheers

Most people here seem to use Audacity as it is FREE  ;D, can slow down tunes whilst maintaing pitch for learning purposes, will run on most amy type of operating system, has addons to modify the recordings (fades, reverb, chorus etc), and it's FREE.

Yes. I can recommend it. Has anyone mentioned that it's FREE?

Yes, you'll find many previous votes of support for Audacity on this forum. I use it frequently, for recording streamed audio, microphone input, line-in input, converting .wav to .mp3 etc. I recently wished it had a facility for timed start and stop of recordings; I've just discovered today that the 1.3 beta level has this very feature. Strongly recommended.

Really useful for recording Radio programmes to listen to on my iPod on the interminable flights back and forth to Austria

Audacity is a lot more than "the poor's man Cubase", I use it for all of my recording tasks, it's easy to use, supports many formats and just does the job well! Also works fine in oldish computers that don't have tons or memory or a fast CPU.

Download and enjoy!

(Lack of) price has already been mentioned  (:) It isn't Cubase but it is certainly useful.

I have used Audacity but I've recently been using Goldwave, which I prefer.

It's even easier to use than Audacity and seems to do much the same. I downloaded the free trial version which should last for ages as I don't think there is a time limit.
