can I offer suggestion make the hyper link 'discussion forum' bigger and on its own line or else it gets 'lost' in amoungst the text.

I've tweaked the opening paragraph - how's that?

Cheers,

Clive

Hmm, I don't really like the idea of having my birthday displayed to the world on the front page of the website.  :-\ Other than that, it looks good!

Fair point - it turns out there's a 'don't show birthdays' switch on the calendar widget... *** CLICK *** ... and they're gone!

I note that the "where am I tab thingy" no longer goes to Website Home when viewing the home page but stays on Forum Home.

Plus as you have front paged the All the Tunes of the Month sticky, might it be worth doing the same for the How to Find Tunes and How to Transcribe tunes stickys?

ps there is an inconsistancy in the font colours in the Articles Box on the front page

Sorry... not quite sure what you mean by 'where am I' ... can you point me?

Again, can you explain what you mean? Some text is light blue; some is black for sure, but that's because light blue are clickable links. Or is something more subtle going on?

Cheers,

Clive

One functional convenience (e or a sp??) would be for the 'show unread posts' link at the top of the page, to be at the bottom of the page.....................

Does anyone else think this a more logical / useable place for it (I know a lot of folks use phones to browse so don't know if this would be a plus or minus)

Maybe "and", but not "instead". You can change the order that messages & threads appear (somewhere in your settings) - I found it transformed things when I got threads to display "new at top" rather than "new at bottom". As long as you translate comments such as "see previous posting above" it speeds the browsing experience no end!

We will still be able to make adjustments to the new pages after they have been installed later today, so I think we should wait till that work has been done before suggesting any more changes.

No urgency and perhaps no need Theo, but since its a wish list topic and this is the only 'improvement' I can bring to mind thought I'd pop it on view.

As (probably) a minority still using dial up, the more glitz and glamour per page, the slower the viewing experience so anything which trims time taken to scan topics the better - another forum I am a member of offers a choice of 'pretty' or plain text and for the real slowcoach connection members can send out a 'Digest' version where all each days postings are sent as a single item (I think as a byproduct of a daily archiving routine), I'm not suggesting this is appropriate for this forum as the set up of pagination allows you to get to the most recent postings and nearby ones for relevance in reasonable sized chunks.

I would like to offer my thanks to the administrators for putting so much time and effort for us all to share and enjoy this Forum.

We apparently have broadband in the village LdT, it gets shared around, every alternate Thursday night the Honey Cart relocates it, yup you never know who's bucket and chuckit privvy will need firewalling next,  'course since we have a mile of wet string between us and the exchange you can't use it to any great extent so I've stuck with good old steam driven dial up, also saves on disturbance by phone call when on the web.

Other amenities in this little haven of insanity are a live red telephone box, works only if you happen to have a phonecard, (BT have just offered to sell it to us instead of taking it off line) and our post box is emptied nearly every week.  Oh and and we mustn't put recyclables in the green bin, thats for rubbish, Grey, that's the colour for recycling unless its glass of course, or any sort of plastic except bottles, but not their lids......

Sorry having one of my strange off topic turns, something to do with living in a Broads Authority Conservation Village, sorry got to go and get the washing off the line, forgot it was past mid day on a Thursday in July, don't want a fine ;)

That is why even though I like the countryside for a holiday...I couldn't live there. Gotta have my broadband, TV and phone signal.

I wouldn't go painting the whole of our glorious countryside with the same brush - lots of folk I know live out in the sticks and have an excellent broadband connection etc - they've even got it in Wales!
