Not wanting to get on the wrong side of any one I've gone for a compromise and from now on I will be using my pseudonym and my name ;D

I have a habit of calling people by their pseudonyms anyway....and I've had 'lurkers' from this forum come up and ask if I'm LDT (yes you who told me at the stepdance day to keep asking the questions). So I can't be that hard to spot. lol!

It's the hat.  :D

I've used my name on several forums over the years. It's taken from the eponymous hero of the wonderful book "The Unstrung Harp, or Mr Earbrass Writes a Novel" by Edward Gorey.

In the original post, I meant it in the lightest possible way, just looking for some insight into a few of the names that were hard to "etmologize" (probably not a real word).

The forum names are fun, no need to get rid of them.

When I first published something I published it as "T. W. Goldie." Then in print I thought, "That looks stupid." I thought about my given name, "Terence," but never liked it, never use it. So everything since then has been Terry Goldie. That's me.
But when I joined another forum, I wanted a handle that represented who I feel I am in that context. And when I joined this forum, the name came with me.
So nfldbox I remain. Anyone sees me anywhere, they can recognize me from the photo--or from the six year old incessantly playing the fiddle.

In light of this thread I have now placed my genuine name on my profile.  However if any of you are bill collectors then my name is actually something else.

Phew, I'm back, having spent the whole day as a banjo player.
Never again, it was almost like having a sex change!

Someone must ask: What is a sex change like?

I'd be interested to know, because it would make my life as a morris dancer so much easier ;)

More traumatic than being a banjo player for a day, I should think.

(I do know someone who would know... and I'll shortly be sharing a concert platform with another, but I'm not about to ask either of them about it...)

Any adventurous/curious sort with access to HRT tablets and some garden shears care to give it a try and report back?. ;D

I can't think of anything for the other way round...or at least I'm going to pretend I can't so you lot won't think I'm disturbed...if you didn't already...

Fortunately, the condition of owning a banjo is reversable...... :Ph
