I don't know if this is a worthwhile idea or not - what do you think?

Why not a "My life is so empty that I associate with these losers" badge?

Please note:-This is supposed to be mildly amusing.

Are you volunteering to make and distribute these?

If there's any / enough interest then I'd be happy to organise ... unless that's stepping on toes.
(I was only thinking of placing an order with a company that could make such things.)

I think it's a great idea! If someone is willing to take on the somewhat thankless task of organising the manufacture/sale, it could raise a little money for the website and provide all of us with the chance to say hello to a fellow member when we are at a folk festival, function or whatever.

Quite the contrary,  I think people who come up with ideas like this should be ready to do at least some of the spadework if the idea turns out to be a runner.  Have you thought about teeshirts/mugs/keyfobs....

Let's just test the water with badge/pin for now! I was only thinking about the possible benefits at workshops / festivals as an identifier, to help more conversations get started.

Not sure about mugs ... unless they're of the "beer" variety!  :|glug

Anyway ... the question is just about badges / pins for now!  ;)

stickers would be cool to put on my melodeon case and I could stick a badge on the bag

Nice tasteful enamel badge I reckon  ;D  Hope it's not going to be a plastic pin badge with I love (akka a red heart) melodeons  >:(

well if you need a little help with the design I'll do it, but you'll have to wait a bit as its rather hectic at work at the moment so I'm working my lunches.

Prehaps a melodeon, but with MAD for the bellows? I would do a design, but I'm rubbish at drawing on the computer.

If you do it by hand and scan it in...I'll 'redraw' it electronically Ollie.

That sounds quite good! Re the vote, does a simple majority win the day or does it have to be something like 80% for the Yays to triumph?

I echo that - it does sound like a good idea

Re the vote, does a simple majority win the day or does it have to be something like 80% for the Yays to triumph?

I wasn't thinking of that kind of vote - this'll just give a sense of whether it's of interest to people.
So far it seems to be ... but let's see if more numbers changes things.

If it IS supported the next question would probably be "right, it can cost X or Y, would you confirm you want one?" and see if that changes things.

How about just a simple enamel melodeon? Then all we'd have to agree on is what type...

....that should be worth about another three years of discussion of the relative merits of different makes/models to symbolise "melodeon"....

Given I am across the pond, the mailing of a pin might be a bit ridiculous. How about sending it pinned onto a suitable tshirt?  If not "I heart melodeon" how about "I am not Reg Wilson" with a suitable representation of a Wesson melodeon?

Ok - as long as it's not a costalotti, or a one row ('cos Reg Wilson makes them), and not a Hohner as they'll be after suing for copyright or something... ;D
