When I first saw that Liberty Bell was getting votes, I thought "Uh oh, this could get messy".  However, having just sat down and figured it out, it does seem to work out quite well and it's a lot of fun to play.

Liberty Bell.  Not too many accidentals in this form.

It's still impossible on a D/G two row without finding a work around for the A# and G# and I wouldn't know where to begin doing that! It looks as if this tune will win the vote hands down - lets see how many submissions there are ...
in the words of monty python...I didn't vote for it

When I hear the tune (and look at the dots) I realize that I'll likely skip this month and work on the August tune instead.

Any suggestions on how to play Liberty Bell on a melodeon without the accidentals?  With my normal method of changing notes it doesn't sound like the same tune!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Sorry to say that I rather dislike Liberty Bell played in a 'fudged' manner on a melodeon without the range or the accidentals to play the tune properly, including the change of key in the trio section. I think this is one of those times when the compromises needed to shoe-horn it onto a standard D/G melodeon don't work particularly well. It's too good a tune to muck about with and dumb it down.

Now - playing it on an anglo or duet concertina: that's a totally different kettle of wotsits. I say 'go for it!'

I was thinking if it wins about trying it on concertina and see if anyone noticed?

In the A and B sections, try just replacing the accidental notes with a G.  Alternatively, you could try replacing any difficult notes with a rest and see how you like that.  Neither will be 'correct', but as no squeezebox version can hope to be fully faithful to the original anyway, worrying about a single note here or there would seem to be of little consequence.

Well, it may or may not be a pleasant enough tune - such opinions are notoriously subjective - but sadly it isn't "Liberty Bell". I'm with Steve on this one

I think I'm agreement too - it just dosn't 'sound' right mucked about with in this way. I'll go with the runner-up if it does win. 'Herbert the Sherbert' - how does that one go? Got any ABC's or (heaven forbid) any proper music for it?

Re: Liberty Bell:
This piece was composed for a brass and woodwind marching band! I can't see the interest or value of trying to play it on a simple melodeon :-(

About the same as L'Après-midi d'un Faune or La Ci Darem La Mano, I'd  have thought...... :D
