Haven't worked out the C part yet. :-\

It's fine if you don't play it in C  :P
Oh but I thought it would work if you played the first part in A and the second part in B  ::)

being serious for a change...I am totally surprised that this tune is becoming playable  :|||:....and fun. I certainly didn't vote for it.

On a D/G instrument, If you do 1st 2 parts  in G and 3rd part in D (see my post above) it's not too hard unless you want to include the bridge to the repeat of the third part.  There you ideally need  basses with a B flat, and some way-off-key chords (A B flat 7th and I'm not sure what else) and I haven't finished working out the best way to fake it.

Or you can just leave that bit out, but then then where's the challenge ?  >:E :||:
(no, I didn't vote for it either)

Well I have had a go. I played this tune for the first time yesterday, so it's a bit rough and fingers do run away with themselves in places, as always. It works surprisingly well though. I did transcribe the entire thing and tried to do the D part, but with 8 bass and standard accidentals I decided that it wasn't worth mutating it. So this is actually played straight off Guy's transcription.

That's really impressive.  Your ability to use the accidentals, when they're stuck on the end of the row like that, is quite something.

I have extraordinarily large hands, I've practiced doing it A LOT, it was the millionth take and I think I still missed some :P

I enjoyed your performance as well Ukebert, you really seemed to get into the feel of the military march with it as well. I have a few 78s of a concertina player, Alexander Prince, and he did a few military marches to great effect, Belphegor and The Punjab March are 2 that I remember.
A commendable performance in such a short time,
Jolly well done.

If Anahata makes good his promise to work out a workable version of the D part then I'll rerecord with that in as well (:)

Even so, a damned fine day's work!   :Ph:|glug

Those accidentals are surprisingly effective, even when they are an octave out.

That's because if you look carefully I am playing the bit immediately preceding the bits transposed down, in octaves, which means that the contrast is less great.

Not sure I realised there was a D part :|bl  Probably for the best  :Ph

Nice one Ukebert. I'll be playing some lower octave stuff too :|||:. I hope to record a version tomorrow in an ABCB format. Dithering between normalish and jazz at the moment.  ::)

cheers

Originally it goes AABBCCDCCDCC I think. Jazz sounds interesting (:) Looking forward to whichever you end up recording.

I'm working on it. I had to consult the piano score that somebody kindly linked to up there somewhere. Then work out what the chords were, transpose then from Bflat to D, and find the closest approximation playable on a D/G box. I know what to do now, it's a question of persuading my fingers to press the right buttons at the right times... I warn you it's going to be a thoroughly nasty piece of work  >:E
