Going round in circles and almost morphed into clackety 'Bananas in Pyjamas'........so here it is before I lose the plot.  :|||:

Wanted to say 'And now for something completely different !' but it's not.

I like those GMaj7 chords Sandy (:) I think that's what they are anyway.

As promised, my version with the last section in D, and the 8 bar bridge passage full of weird chords leading to the final repeat.

This is very scrappy with a lot of missed notes, but I got through it without stopping on this take, after several that crashed and burned. If I do some more practice it might become a new party piece.

That D part looks evil!  :o >:E I think that would satisfy my need of an A level performance piece.  :P Fantastic as ususal, Anahata... I especially like the look of sheer relief at the end.  ;D

That was absolutely brilliant! Well done, and thank you!
I humbly eat my earlier words about this tune being too good to muck about with and arrange for a two-row D/G melodeon. I think you have captured the real spirit of the march wonderfully, and set us a real standard and something to strive for.

Terrific Sandy and Anahata. Anahata your version particularly brought to mind an old fashioned merry go round with horses and elephants and small children smiling! Great stuff.

Wow! Amazing.

I did have a little look at liberty bell and the only way I'll manage to play it is to do it in sections then edit it together. Or do something python-esque to avoid the section I can't play...I think you'll guess what that is easily enough. ;)

I think that's the G bass with G chord and B chord together that I use a fair bit in the B part and occasionally throughout. ???

Well done Sandy and Anahata !
I noticed the feeling of relief too but it was after the D part.
Surely a tune for you and Mary to work on as a duet party piece.

Anahata your version particularly brought to mind an old fashioned merry go round with horses and elephants and small children smiling!

Surely that's exactly how it's meant to be  :D
The same has been said of other things I've played.
I must like that sort of tune, or maybe I make everything sound that way  ???
Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm sure it's only a stepping stone[1] and someone will improve on it
(I'm sure I could improve on it, given time)

Elsewhere on this forum there is a debate obout the continuation of TotM but looking at the last two posts by Sandy and Anahata just demonstrate why we should continue.

This tune is a bit beyond me for now with only 12 months learning behind me but these two posts are inspirational. They are the sort of playing that keeps relative beginners like myself going. So I've only posted twice but I've been playing more with greater focus becuase of TotM.

Great!

The matter is receiving consideration....

Thank you - I am so much more pleased to see this than those "I'm off to burn my melodeon now" type comments that come up sometimes. And until two days before I did that video I thought it was impossible...

By the way, I am really hoping for some of this forum's B/C/C# players to come up with something MUCH closer to Sousa's intentions on this thread. I used to play a Gaelic IV and I know the instrument is perfectly suited to this type of music - much more so than a two row D/G, it has to be said. We've all heard John Kirkpatrick's Blaze Away, and The Washington Post used to be one of my party pieces.
Come on you chromatic squeezers - you know who you are!
