Couple of crackers from Cyrille Brotto...
« on: October 02, 2010, 09:14:25 PM »

An infectious little tune - 'Le Lezard' - and a very subtle arrangement of Gilles Chabenat's 'Mazurka des Ecoliers'...

Just love his style... classy... 8)

Thanks for sharing these clips. I'd like to find out the make and model of his 2.5 row box. I guess its tuned G/C with accidentals?

It's an older (late 80s/early 90s era) Castagnari Mory - note the 'picture frame' makers badge and fan shaped treble grille. Black buttons are not standard as far as I know... probably retrofitted...

Yep, G/C/+acc... the extra 4 bass on these is usually some combination of Eb and F push, Bb and B pull...

Yes, and doesn't it sound gorgeous?  (:)
I don't think the more recent ones sound as good as this, but I may be wrong.

I think you're right, Steve - the bass end is just so smooth on that box! I'm sort of hoping that'll happen to mine with twenty years or so of playing-in... though I still won't be playing as nicely as Cyrille!  (:)

Looked at this this morning mainly wrt the modal impro he's doing on the mazurka. Yes it's the old Mori - mine looked the same and is in the very safe hands of Julian Sutton. Brotto's not using any accidentals in it that I can hear - but the box comes with reverse note buttons (would be E/D on a DG setup)

Although Mori bass end is AFAIR quite excellent ... the really clever chording he does on Lézard is on the right hand?  The man's a timing genius.

The right hand chording is very interesting but, to me, it's his timing and the precise way he uses spaces between the notes that is so exquisite.  Do you think he has the Mory on the LM setting?

I could listen to those all day!

I know the tune "Le Lezard"  as a Danish tune, and with a different name, but its the same tune.

Does anyone have the dots for the basic melody & chord sequence for Brotto's version of 'Le Lezard', that they could share?
['spose it'd be a waste of time trying to bodge it on a D/G ... ]
