English Melodeon Players Vol 2? New CD
« on: October 12, 2010, 04:18:24 PM »

Just got a marketing email from Mrs Casey Music, including this:

"Banquet of Boxes..........an album idea from Simon Care featuring some of the country's finest English Melodeon players presenting new tunes. More on this soon."

Sounds interesting!

Interesting idea - refresh my memory, who was on volume 1 (long lost tape, haven't heard it in ages) - Dave Roberts, Roger Watson, Tony Hall, Martin Ellison, and one other than I can't remember. I think the state of English melodeon is a *lot* stronger than it was when vol 1 was done; there are many, many fantastic players around, and certainly far too many to stick on a compilation. Wonder who they'll choose (ducks away from the inevitable *long* discussion  ;D)

The other contributor was Edward II and the RHPs.

So I guess that would have been Rod Stradling and Dave Haines at that time?

It was indeed Rod Stradling and Dave Haines.
My copy of Vol 1 is on vinyl - dated 1986.

Yep. I'm a bit older than that and probably have wax cylinders lying around here somewhere. With sleeve notes in Latin.

I was able to reach for my tape of it without leaving my chair.
There's not many things in this house I can find that easily...

I have never had a tape player or a tape deck of my own. By the time I came to buy music CDs had come in.

Gypsylad - I've PMd you.

1986? Really? I must only have been 12 (give or take . . . ).
Looking forward to the new one, although to be fair to Simon I'm sure it isn't really volume 2 but a whole new idea.

Yes, it isn't really volume 2 of anything of course. But a disk full of tunes played by a selection of the best melodeon players in the country? Sounds like EMP! I just hope I enjoy it as much as the original.

Actually, surely there's enough talent to make it a double or triple CD set!!! I'd love to hear something new from you on it Martin...

I have tape only, in the kitchen and vinyl only, in the bedroom. Digital everywhere else.
Using this system I get to hear all my stuff, no matter what media.

As tapes are such an arse to rewind, etc, it's best to chill and let it run, then concentrate on cooking the dinner.
One side of a vinyl LP sends me off to sleep, perfick. CDs take too long.

Just got the mental image of you opening a kitchen cupboard and squeezd inside are a small folk band playing tunes while you cook.
Hmmmm. Maybe I aught to get some sleep.
