Pigen i Gult is not, The Guilty Girl as you may think, but The Girl in Yellow. :|bl

We respectfully request the court to take certain previous offences into consideration.
The subjects of these YouTubes also get played a lot in our Sunday night so-called English music session:
I simply cannot stop listening to your music, utterly beautiful and mesmerizing.
Thank you for the videos!
Your collection of videos is excellent both for learning and for pure entertainment.

I wondered if it had found its way over here and got corrupted into the better known Pigeon on the Gate but it was written too recently for that  ;)

Wow! a marathon set  :Ph
By the way, Skirmish has undergone extensive folk processing from Nick's Original
...and I think it was once up for a ToTM but didn't win the vote, so while it's "none of the above" that's only by a narrow escape.

I started with Nick's original and then added the bits I liked from the version that Dog Rose use (as in the Jools Holland clip) to make that particular version. I think that it works OK.

Looks like a good plan. Nick will know the Dog Rose version.

OK, over on Tune of the Month Steve posted a multitracked extravaganza on the Steamboat Hornpipe, and I promised I'd do something similar but (arguably more appropriately) in the "session tunes"  theme of the month.

I hope this doesn't cause my web site to go into meltdown...
MP3 of Trip to Brighton and The Charming Maid

Lovely as always. :)

TSMB  and my contribution to the theme, an early Andy Cutting waltz

Albert's Last Dance
Lester you and TSMB make a good team. Found the tune quite relaxing.

Well this is as close as I can get to a session over here in Sweden. Melodeons in this area are thin on the ground, so when this chance came up I thought why not.

This just a short - just two tunes -exert of a long dance.
I'm just jogging along in the back as it's the first time I've heard the tunes. So I've no idea what we are doing.  :|bl  The dance however I've seen done many times. It involves playing a short medley of different dance tunes to keep the dancers on their toes. So to speak.
Kept my ears alert I can tell you  :Ph

When I find out what the tunes are called I'll enlighten you all.

Second tune is called "Nu ska vi skörda linet"  Today we will harvest the flax (cotton)

Praps it depends if it is destined to be retted and spun or smoked Theo ;)

Richard - who after a visit to a number of steam powered Belgian flax retteries crossed borders all over Europe with bundles of the stuff in all stages from field to factory on the dashboard, wholly innocent of it's close relationship to another vegetable substance which the Dutch may still legally smoke in a pub !

First tune is"Syver's Mazurka" (That's just someone's name). The're both Mazurka's.

No Theo. I think that Flax is cotton, which gets made into linen later on. i.e. Linen is Bedclothes.

We wouldn't harvest our bed clothes.  :|glug

Cotton
Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant, Linum usitatissimum

Sorry Chas, I cam over all nerdy there.  Never saw myself as a fibre-ist. ;D

Just in time before November turns into a pumpkin - another session favourite around here:

John Locke's Hornpipe and the Coleford Jig

John Kirkpatrick calls it John Locke's Polka but frankly I don't agree. And the Coleford Jig is no more a jig than the Radstock Jig, but that's what it's called.

Anyway, enjoy - and learn if you don't know them; I think they're cracking tunes.

And finally I couldn't resist this:

If You Will Not Have Me You May Let Me Go

I usually play it on the Oakwood at the session but I think it's really one for the Saltarelle, especially as I can use an F# bass.
Thanks to Paul Scourfield for first proving it could be done   :||:
And apologies for rather severe melodeon face at the beginning  :|bl
