Cop a load of this squeezebox accumulation...  :o

It's not so much finding the brass - where would you find room to put 300 plus squeezeboxes? ;D

Where do you all get the brass?

By selling all the other types of instruments you have stashed away!

Serious downside of MAD is the withdrawal symptons. I am currently Melodeonless in San Francisco (good name for a film?) for 10 days.  How will I survive  ???

Evans above! You have put yourself in a very dangerous situation.
Find a melodeon shop immediately.  ;D

I realize I'm resurrecting a zombie thread, but this was too much fun. I don't have a melodeon YET, and my list looks paltry compared to some here, but I have:

1 Electric guitar (1967 Fender Jazzmaster - lovely!)
2 Acoustic guitars
1 Mandolin
1 Lap Steel guitar
1 ukulele
1 Large handful of tin whistles
1 Low whistle
1 (really nice) wooden flute
1 Descant recorder
1 Treble recorder
2 Darabukas
1 Djembe
1 Daf (big Iranian frame drum)
1 Bodhran
1 Piano Accordion (bit of a shed)
1 bass guitar
1 zither of some sort
1 bag of harmonicas (more than 10, I don't know how many)
1 Fiddle

As a true sufferer of MAD I spotted  that this thread had come back to life thought "that's interesting" but then since my last post I have acquired the 1 row in G that I had been longing for.
Now what do I need next.

What a relief... I'm 'normal' ...well, on here anyway ;D

Down to me last 4 boxes having sold 3 recently (mistake!)
there's also an accordion, fiddle, ham dulc, mandolin, short neck tenor banjo, various whistles not mention 4 practice chanters and various smallpipes (Gibson ceilidh in A, dunfion pocket pipes in A and an imported set(Bf) + a single drone set in D ::) ... and a 12 string guitar ::)... just for me own amusement 8)

Still trying to persuade meself that I don'tneed a B/C or a G/C ....

oh, and there's a 16" bodhran that needs a new skin...

OK. How to explain MAD. Look at the list above, which has one, or sometimes two, of each instrument. The only exception is 'a bag of more than 10 harmonicas'. OK. You think that you have loads of harmonicas because they're cheap. You're wrong; you have loads of harmonicas because they're a free reed instrument, and the thing about free reed instruments, is, well, you need lots of them. Turns out that melodeons aren't cheap. Hmm.

Cheers,

Alison (I only really have four melodeons that I use regularly. Plus there's three hubby uses regularly, and one that it's really time we sold).

My God...this is a serious disease!!

This thread is good for me though. I'm not feeling guilty about one expensive box anymore. Maybe I'm not aiming high enough. Thought I was asking too much putting 'ruc-sac gig bag' on my father christmas list. Maybe I should ask him to fill the bag as well!!!

Is a wish list the start of it all!!

cheers
Sandy

Fiddles, yes, 4 at the last count, though one doesn't count because it was given to me by a friend who found it in the attic.

I notice you don't seem to have a pedal steel guitar.  PM me if you wish to rectify this.

I really, really, really do, but I can't even stretch to a Carter Starter. See other threads I'm posting in for how my current impoverished state is causing me to hope vainly for bargain melodeons. Of course, if you know someone with a room full of pedal steels who is just desperate for SOMEONE to take one away (which is how I got my lovely leather sofa), then I'm your man  ;)

Within the last two weeks I have sold 2 melodeons! Revovery in progress!

On the other hand, I just made an offer for two other ones in need of a loving home (and I bet a lot of work).

Well, maybe not a FULL recovery, but still, I sold 2!

Just got a cute little 2-stop 1-row Hohner in C in amazing shape for its age. Nothing fancy, just pure fun...

Can't quite manage that but I bought a Carter Starter a few years and what with one thing and another never found time to play it.  And I live near you so you'd avoid the vast delivery charges...
