A daft mistake!
« on: May 20, 2008, 10:18:47 AM »

I've been driven nuts with  a discordant noise when I played  a note . Having had the reeds out etc etc I finally removed the grille and found that the shoe at the end of the lever for that button, when pressed was fractionally catching the lever for the adjacent one on the other row of the 2row and lifting it a tiny bit! I shaved off a sliver of wood and presto! Problem solved
As they say in management "question alll assumptions'' Am I alone in such daft behaviour or am I just lousy at diagnostics ? Good job I'm not a doctor!

Am I alone in such daft behaviour ...
Certainly not! Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is one of my specialities! After years of working in maintenance I've realised that fault finding is an art in itself and it's new and different every time. Always rely on the evidence alone and marry that up with known facts. If you go down the road of thinking you've seen something a bit like this before you are lost in the world of conjecture and must suffer the fate of stumbling about like a buffoon before accidentally discovering the truth you already knew.  ::)
