All 3 rows the same?
« on: November 19, 2010, 05:18:08 PM »

Because I play be ear, and don't know any other melodeon players, there are lots of things about the instrument that I dont know. My previous question about Slovenian melodeons with the Helicon basses was well answered, so I will try another question that I have not been able to answer by doing a search of this site.

I play a Hohner C-F-G, and I wonder if the fingering is the same on other tunings.  That is, is the fingering on my Hohner C-F-G the same as the fingering on any other Hohner three row melodeon?  Of course, the actual pitch of the notes would be different...

Short answer is: yes!

I suspect that's not entirely the case...surely their Morgane-like 3 row is sold as in GC# format?

I should have added: if we stay away from semi-tone tunings! E.g. true for G/C/F, A/D/G, etc.

I think that the only three row boxes available from Hohner from the factory that aren't standard quint are their club and the BCC#. And the CBA. Don't know if they do any semitone hybrids.
