@ukebert It's an interesting box. Softer in tone than the equivalent pokerwork, and nearly as fast.

@mayord21 No double-tracking - I'd declare it. All the notes are in the same direction, and added for punch and variation. Try it!

Very nicely done too - no need to be apologetic about it in your YouTube description.

Here's my contribution. It's a favourite with my band Florida, so I wonder just a little what our 'proper' melodeon player Tim will think.

Still it's been fun as these things usually are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKtRbwb38bA
Lovely playing, Gavin! So gentle and yet so danceable. I like the B-music; not heard that version before. The pressed-wood Hohner sounds delicious.
Hope Julie was indeed making you a cuppa. You deserved one (:)

Isn't that the B music from Trip to Highgate ? Works well, anyway.

How funny! I've completely garbled two tunes I should know really well and had a great time doing it. LOL...

Perhaps I should try again and get it right, then again maybe I should just go quiet for a while  ::)

Ahh, Florida.  That's who we nicked half our border dance tunes from!  Some of the band used to come to our Christmas parties in Hook, Hampshire.  I remember one year we cleared all the tables away and danced inside to the saxophone - marvellous.

We're still around and still playing. We'll be at Warwick Fest this year, for example.

Meanwhile, I'll try to think what I can do with this tune and get it right this time!

I'm feeling a bit delinquent about TotM, not having submitted much to the effort lately. Lots of wonderful inspiration so far!! So today I decided to give this tune a try. I'm playing it on my old, restored Giuseppi Janni & Figli 9+3 organetto in the key of D. I have fitted some neon lights aboard in honor of the holiday season, and just managed to make it thru the tune before the blizzard hit in full force. :Ph  I am hoping to have a seasonal tune as well if I can get some free time before winter ends. ;D

Here's my very straight recording of this tune.
I have played it in C on my Hascy G/C (I like the chords better) and I think if I had to play it in D I would rather play it on an A/D Box.
Haven't got one of those :o

Basses are really nice on this accordion and in your performance.

I've had another go!

It's played rather more correctly this time, or at least I hope so. In my earlier attempt I managed to combine the A of Seven Stars with the B of Trip, which goes to show just how flakey a chap can be!

Some of you might be amused by my playing of the first notes of The Trip in octaves in an attempt to recall the bright sound of a hunting horn.

Very nice, Gav.  I've just deleted my first comments when I realised that I'd heard the Trip whilst dancing to Florida at GBH - though not as delicately played - I seem to recall triplets on the trumpet?

Thanks Rob2!

I'd call triplets on a trumpet pretty delicate tho'... but Charlie's an undisputed star. It's great to play with him.

Here's a "kurz und schmerzlos" version. I really love this tune but not being a practiced one rower it ties my fingers in knots >:(
From the many video takes this was the only one I managed all the way through without any major fluffs. ::)

My last-minute submission for this month. I found this tune a real challenge, especially keeping time with the left hand and keeping the runs even. You will notice that I've stitched together the A and B music as I couldn't quite manage a whole take that I was happy with, but I hope you'll forgive me.  :-\  :|||:
