I'm getting quite excited about the 'Hohner Night' at Sidmouth - John K, Pete Coe, Tony Hall, Mark Bazeley and Jason Rice, Chris Parkinson and Ed Rennie in the Manor Pavillion on Tuesday.

Other than that - Bideford (only in its second year, but last year was great), Towersey, Dartmoor, and Bromyard.

hah ha Mikesamwild - I totally understand your feelings there!!! ;D

Ebor Fiddler  The thread is called Two Festivals at Whitby, begun by George Garside and is in Events

and speaking of events, shouldnt this thread be in Events and not general discussion ????   ::)

I was all set to go to the meeting but we had to miss Whitby at very short notice, I was looking forward to there being one last year but nothing happened so it gets my vote for this year.
Just a suggestion but we could hold it at Theo's stand so as he is not left out and some of us may even be tempted to spend a bit of money.

I will also be doing Sidmouth again this year.

Nope, first year for me, but really enjoyed Shepley which is I'm guessing on a similar scale to Southwell. Will keep an eye out for you :) Guy managed to recognise me from the photo on my siggie website - albeit wearing more clothes at a festival  :D

I seem to remember suggesting that in a previous year, and the offer is still open.

I've been informed recently that the Whitby trade fair will be in a different venue this year.   Instead of the rather remote lower hall in the Spa it will be in the leisure Centre which is just across the car park from the Festival Office and  the Rifle Club.

re Whitby ... last year I couldnt make Whitby, and Mike Gott has moved to foreign parts (well the other side of the Pennines anyway!!!  :D)

Theos stall sounds a good one, but wont the other stall holders object to a cacaphony of melodeons??????  ;D

Thinking of travelling down from North Scotland to my home town festival Fylde at Fleetwood at the end of August. Although it is looking like Whitby is the main box session place for the north?
Does anyone here know if Fylde has any sessions?

We've actually been living in Lancs since way back in 1989 but get back to Lincolnshire to see family and do me bit as a volunteer driver on the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway when I can, so I've still sort of got one foot in the county. I feel like I have trans-pennine citizenship. All being well, will be over in a couple of weeks commuting via the Humber Bridge to Beverley FF to be with Rivington Morris.

Hello Mike

I hope you realised my comments were only tongue in cheek - the written word is so difficult!!

We are not going to Beverley FF this year - we asked if we could go but they didnt want us  :'(
a great shame 'cos we loved it when we did come- great festival ( I think it was too soon, cos they like to have different sides appear each year, nothing personal!!  well thats what they told us anyway!! ha ha)

Everything's changed this year.

In a couple of weeks I'm off to a festival in Madeira with the Manchester Morris Men.  A big gap in the Summer but then I'll be at the Derby Traditional Arts and Music Festival, 24-26 October.  Expanded from last year's one day event.

Unashamed plug - I'll be with The Ram Company  www.ramcompany.co.uk . 4 melodeon players in the line-up but not all at once.

I hope to see some of you at the EATMT Traditional Music Day in Stowmarket on 30th August. Always a great day - brilliant sessions, great location and wonderful concert in the evening.

I'm going to Shrewsbury.  Really looking forward to it - the line-up is great.  I went last year for the first time and was very impressed.  The session is good fun too.
