I will probably go to Upton as my morris side will be dancing there, and Shrewsbury looks likely too. If only Windy Bottom would happen again - 'Burn the beast', the Kazoo band that everyone could join in, Stephenson's Rocket, the mini beer festival, even a scratch-morris outing to various hostelries on the saturday, and whats more Theo would even fettle your box while you waited. Please do it again Chris.

For me, Shepley, Wimbourne, Whitby, Sidmouth so far. Don't think I can cope with more.
Hope to see some of you there.

If you happen to be in Australia during Easter then head for the National Folk Festival. The session bar is an unforgettable experience.

Belper Music Festival - not a folk festival as such but Pig Dyke Molly went there last year, had a great time and are doing it again this year, and additionally Mary and I are booked for a concert spot on the Sunday in the only valguely "folk" event.

And Sidmouth - we'll arrive on Sunday, not sure what we'll be doing on Monday/Tuesday but with Pig Dyke Molly for Wednesday - Friday.

Looks like that's it for this year, so far.

I'm headed off to Dance Flurry this evening.  http://www.danceflurry.org/festival/
Looking forward to Old Songs http://www.oldsongs.org/festival/index.html

If I can swing it I'll be at Irish Arts Week...it's just up the road a piece and I feel ashamed I've never been.  Maybe I'll see you there Ajay.

I think Whitby is a tremendous festival.

Camping - pretty good, although we always rent a house - largely because there are always enough of my friends that I want to share with there.  I have camped there and it is fine.

Workshops for the not too technical - George Garside of this forum always does a beginners workshop spanning the week. First class and essentially I date my playing from doing one of George's courses.  Every year there have been intermediate courses. The ones I have done have been first class, although I haven't done that many as every year for the last five years I have had either dancing or playing commitments with one or more sides.

Sessions - plenty of them.

Other pros - If you take the family plenty for them to do, the moors, the beach, sea trips, superb steam railway through the best countryside in the world, the abbey, where most of the novel "Dracula" was set, other nearby towns / villages such as Robin Hood's Bay.  Plenty of good dining.

Fantastic.

Festival campsite is at a aschool within walking distance of all venues.Showers , bogs etc. Only available to season ticket holders.  See festival website for info.  Moor & coast have a temporary festival site ,again within walking distance, at the community college see moor & coast website. List of festival guests ( aartists) on website and will be added to over next few months, so far John K & Brian Peters are booked. I will probably do a crash course for beginnersmon to thurs & an intermediate workshop on friday.
I usually do 2 or 3 lead sessions that can best be described as 'well known tunes at a steady pace giving everybody the chance to join in ( & all is in D or G!) At least 3 lead sessions of various sorts daily plus informal pub sessions. - something like 600 events during the week!

Are these 'lead' sessions Whitby's version of heavy metal music?  >:E
