Hi all - I just joined today, and was delighted to see Jan 11 'Tune of The Month' - La Marianne, 'cos I uploaded my version to You Tube last June :)

Sorry about the video - in a moment of weakness, I thought I'd dress French style   ;)

Anyway, have a look and a listen  :    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_56C8kOH3k

P.s : Hope the link works for you - it's not connecting for me...:(

That bottle had been emptied the night before, and half filled with water for effect  ::) The onions round my neck were real though.. :D

My playing gets worse when I have had a drink - I know I've had enough when I can only remember 'Speed The Plough'....

Here's my effort - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmNuiSyD1AE

I've had my melodeon for a month now and still having fun, only problem is I keep getting side tracked by other tunes! I've got Princess Royal pretty well sorted and really like Orange in Bloom - especially the slow version by sqwzbox on youtube. I've also had a go at the 'Upton on Severn Stick Dance' which I heard performed in Uppingham over Christmas (Boxing Day I think). Does the tune itself have a name?

Anyway, I thought I'd better record this one before it goes out of date! Bit rough and ready, it's amazing how off-putting the camera is  :-[

Only a month? Really well played, well done!
Getting sidetracked by other tunes is perfectly OK. Go with whatever works for you best. Having fun is the whole idea. Keep it up!

The tune is from Newfoundland and is called Two Sisters.

Thanks Steve, I'm almost scared to listen to new tunes at the moment - there are far too many good 'uns out there  :||:

Lester - thanks for the info, not much on youtube apart from this one by sqzbox http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBxF6_aDIBA

I uploaded La Marianne, paired with a video of my waltzing in the Caribbean. I'm pleased to report balmy winds and long swells.

And just under the wire (6:43pm here in Vermont) my first submission:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgryeBBkkig

I'm a former Morris musician (Foggy Bottom, Albemarle) now solo practitioner.  I've been playing almost exclusively Anglo concertina for the last decade but, due to arthritis problems, have traded in my Crabbe for the lovely padauk Beltuna Samuel in the video.  I'm very rust on the melodeon (and it shows!) but am coming right along in re-adapting - I just made the trade this past Friday.  Hope you like it!

Well done one and all - time to move onto a new tune; late submissions as ever are always welcome and appreciated!

Does anyone have suggestions for a suitable tune with which to "pair" the lovely "La Marianne"?

A band I'm used to play it after Jon Swayne's "Robin's Waltz".
